November 2008 — "We were in the mood for a smorg, so we decided to try out Chan’s House in Dieppe. Unfortunately, their mantra must be quantity over quality. Although I didn’t mind the food that much, my wife was not a fan at all and found the buffet area dirty. The choices are definitely Westernized versions of Chinese food with lots of sweet and sour sauce smothering all sorts of meats. The buffet even offered French fries. To add to our disappointment, the restaurant is very crowded, so it felt like we were sitting with strangers. The service was probably the best thing about this restaurant, our server was very attentive and took our plates away promptly and filled our waters often. If you’re looking for a relatively cheap buffet that has a decent variety of selections, Chan’s is for you. If you’re looking for a quiet meal of tasty east Asian food, keep on going."
