April 2008 — "My husband and I, always in a search for good Mexican food, came across Acajutla last evening. When we first entered the restaurant, it has a warm atmosphere, beautiful, bright colors, very clean. Lots of sombreros and wraps and flags. Our first impression was good. The lady that came to serve us was a beautiful, petite woman. She did not speak to us, simply picked up menus and took us to a table. She did not smile, nor make any eye contact. The restaurant had approximately 5 other tables occupied when we arrived at approxiately 6:00 p.m. which I thought was a good sign. However, upon looking at the othe patrons, no one was eating, nor having any refreshments. This poor woman was serving all tables on her own! Needless to say, no one was happy. The couple next to us repeatedly asked for drinks, then dessert the entire hour they were there that we were. Though she said her dessert was great - she waited 45 minues to get it. My husband ordered a beef/vegetable soup to start. Approximately $10.00 a bowl. What he received was a large bowl of broth with 5 pieces of beef, no vegetables and the soup was lukewarm - and he waited almost 30 minutes to get that. My pineapple margarita was fantastic -- cool, refreshing and great flavour. We observed other tables getting nachos, tortillas, etc. and all appeared to be enjoying, just all stating that the service was lacking and food was cold - this I personally heard from 3 other tables around us. My chicken enchiladas were fantastic - they were nice and spicy - just served cool - not hot at all (temperature wise). My husband ordered Chili Con Carne, which he thought would be a bowl of chili, however it turned out to be strips of beef with peppers, onions, tomatoes and jalapeno peppers, no sauce, etc. served with rice and salad - this too was served cool - and the rice especially was cold. After asking twice to have my enchiladas packaged up as we had an engagement to attend, I finally went up to the counter and requested same and the bill - the entire time the woman who sat us, took our order, served us, etc. did not speak to me. Just gave me the bill which I promptly paid. The dollar value is good- the food is good, just not served hot (temperature wise) and the service definately requires a pick up - as to be honest, don't think we'll return - same with the couple that sat immediately to our left - whom complained about everything all evening. Our server never once asked if we wanted drink re-fills, nor inquired as to how the food was, etc. Service definately lacking. "
