"Truly Japanese - Hibiki is Best!"

July 2008 — "I can't stop going to Sushi Hibiki, the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. The ambiance is simple, but clean. Popular Japanese music is lightly played throughout, and occasionally you will find a pretty origami on each of the tables. Everything here is made fresh by Nabu and the staff are great. I recommend the Soy Croquettes, the Chirashi, the octopus balls, even the cheese sticks are made fresh. I don't think there is anything on the menu that is not made by Nabu. Even the egg (tamago) sushi is homemade and very, very good. (I actually order it on purpose here). I keep wanting to try the noodles on the menu, but can't stay away from the excellent appetizers and sushi/sashimi. Even the rolls are extremely good. From the Rock and Roll to the No-Seaweed Roll - I always get an excellent meal here. I didn't know they made their own green tea ice cream too, until I read the other review, but I can certainly believe it. In fact, after typing all this, I'm going to go there now!"

"Could this be the best sushi in Calgary?"

Save Review

February 2008 — "I've now been here about 6 times since I moved back to Calgary in October. Time and again, the food and service have been top notch. This is the quality and air of a great sushi restaurant in Japan. The decor is not outlandish and the focus is not on what you see when you look around. The focus is on the food being the way you would get it in Japan. The chef and owner, Nabu (I've made a point to know his name) always takes individual interest in the dining experience of each guest. Recommendations: tuna tataki, sashimi (esp. mackeral for those who like mackeral) and all of the more traditional straight-up nigiri sushi. The green tea ice cream is homemade too! Not the cheapest place in town, but you're getting excellent value for your money - even when compared to the average places in town."

"Fantastic Service"

June 2007 — "I just moved to the area and heard about this place from these reviews. What everyone says is true -- the food is fresh and delicious but what really impressed me was the service ... everyone was so friendly, from the server to the cook who made a point of asking us how it was. The restaurant is pretty small but we went on a Saturday at dinnertime and didn't have any problems getting a table and getting served promptly. The restaurant had mostly Asian people in it, which I always take as a good sign. My only suggestion would be that they put together some sort of combo dinner--like assorted sushi for two or something--just to make it a bit easier for the people who don't know what to order. All in all, a great experience and I would go back. "

May 2007 — "We use to visit Cafe of Tokyo at this address. We return to Hibiki with great pleasure. Became synonim with Japanese for us, in a certain way, 'cause anything in the menu gets Japanese attention from Chef and helpers. Everytime we wow at the little (indeed) decorative details. After many months now we find them only faster and better and friendlier. "

February 2007 — "Now "Sushi Hibiki", this little place has been renovated and is much cleaner. I find it one of the best sushi in town, having eaten to all the most popular out there. Go Hibiki!"

"Good eating...to go"

May 2006 — "This quiet, hole in the wall is one of Bridgeland's little gems. I'm not really sure what the French-style name is all about but rest assured, Cafe de Tokyo serves traditional Japanese dishes, including sushi. The restaurant itself isn't much to look at, but the friendly staff and cozyness attempts to make up for the lack of any distinguishable decor. It is a great place for some quick take-out, which allows you to enjoy your meal somewhere that isn't as esthetically stimulating as the inside of a supply closet. The dumpling soup is delicious and most meals are prepared quickly. Definately worth a meal if you are in the Bridgeland area."
