December 2012 — "Not my first time here but this one was a bt dissapointing: Service: they sit you, take your order and bring the check. That's about it. Food: Tastes good but portions are small. We had to share 3 slices of bread with 1 small jam and 1 small peanut butter. The worse part is that each and every single plate has week old slices of pineapple and melon and dry grapefruit! Overall: Food tastes good (don't eat the old dry fruits served with your meal) but expect to pay a lot for not too much food and no service. It's pretty much the Montreal way; cheap. "

"Eggs-tastic brunch in the mile end"
Image

Save Review

November 2012 — "The Eggspectation location on Laurier O. in the Mile End neighbourhood serves up a great array of delicious brunches. Clean and spacious, with friendly staff and prompt service; it's a great place to head on weekends. I went with my sister and her family, including 2 small children, and the family service was excellent. They brought us a height-chair and accommodated our special requests. I ordered the Yolk Around the Clock - 2 eggs with cheese and bacon each topped with half a bagel (so the yolk of the egg is in the centre of the bagel). The plate comes with fruit and home-fried potatoes. My brother-in-law ordered the Farmers' Plate - eggs, ham, bacon, pancakes, and home-fried potatoes: not for the faint of heart, but if you're hungry, definitely the way to go! The restaurant is spacious which gave the children opportunity to run around without getting in the way; a much appreciated opportunity for the adults to converse. Absolutely the best for a family brunch in the Mile End."

"Not my favorite"

Save Review

October 2012 — "I have attended Eggspectations a few times in the past, and have never been that impressed. On this occasion, I decided to opt for an omelette that piqued my interest, because it consisted of three cheeses, jalapenos, peppers, avocados, and was topped with salsa. I also ordered a smoothie (blueberry and honey). As in my past visits, I was not thoroughly impressed. The omelette itself was OK, and I did enjoy the jalapenos and different cheeses. The avocados, on the other hand, were much too hard and were obviously not yet ripe. The breakfast potatos are atrocious, and are not crispy at all. They are actually quite mushy and tasteless. The best part of my meal was the smoothie. The decor inside is pleasant enough, although the murals on the walls are a bit odd. My favorite place to sit is on the edge of the window, especially in the summertime, when they open the windows and you can look out onto the street. I would say this place is overpriced and below average."

"On Laurier"

October 2012 — "Went to Eggspectations to catch with some friends. Not usually the place I would chose for breakfast given that we prefer small cafés but brunch turned out to be excellent. Its menu offers great choices omelets, eggs benedict, waffles, French toasts, pancakes, bagels and fresh fruits. I ordered the Eggsuberant (2 eggs, two pancakes, ham, sausage or bacon and potatoes), which was quite fulfilling at a very good price. Overall good quality and taste. Despite being in a large location, the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. Coffee kept being refilled, staff was friendly and service was fast. Definitely will be back when in the mood of a eggs/pancake or waffle combination. "

September 2012 — "A good amount of selections for breakfast, sandwiches, and dinner items. They offer a good variety of breakfast and eggs. The bread ain't bad. They give you a good selection of jams. Not too oily on the food. The service is very good even though the place was very busy we were seated fast and the waiter always had a smile on her face. Good easy to get to location in downtown. I would eat here for bunch any day."

"Delicious Classic Eggs Benedict"
Image

Save Review

February 2012 — "I went to Eggspectations one weekend for brunch to redeem an online voucher that I had ordered earlier. My favourite savoury breakfast dish is eggs benedict, so I was very excited to find a variety of benedict choices at Eggspectations, though I ended up choosing the classic one anyway. I also got a coffee to make the most of my online voucher, which was worth $12. I have heard some complaints in the past that some restaurants treat people with coupons and vouchers as second-class citizens, but the service at Eggspectations was great! My meal was even better than the service. The eggs were perfectly poached, and the yolk gooed over my english muffins when I dug in. Also, it came with a side of delicious home fries and a cup of fresh fruit. My tastebuds were delighted with every bite! I would certainly recommend the place for their breakfast goodies."

"Moderately good food"

November 2011 — "Eggspectation offers a moderately refined breakfast and brunch experience with a rather wide selection of typical breakfast dishes. There's probably something that will tickle your fancy. The decor is modern and the tables are neat and clean. The service was excellent and the food came in a timely manner. At the time I was looking for something greasy and delicious, I order the San Marino crepe and wasn't too disappointed. It came with a side of salad with a vinaigrette sauce. The crepe was filled with spinach and tender chicken in a creme sauce. Overall I wasn't blown away, but the food wasn't too bad and most meals run around 10 dollars so you get your money's worth. If you're a coffee drinker, your cup is routinely refilled by the attentive waiters. The location I visited was located on Cotes-Des-Neiges near the metro station. While a pleasant experience, I would it find difficult for them to compete with the exceptional bakeries in the area."

"Good breakfast"

October 2011 — "This was my first time at Eggspectations and I wasn't convinced it was going to be good, but because we could not find any other place. I had the french toast, which was good. It didn't come with enough maple syrup so that was disappointing. The staff were friendly but a little slow, but I believe that is a part of their culture. Overall the meal was good and reasonably price, so I would return."

"Old wilted salad and bland food."
Image

Save Review

August 2011 — "It was a hot summer day when I sat outside to eat at Eggspectations on de Maisonneuve. Sure, due to the heat, I would have been a little bit more leniant on wilted produce. But this salad was the worst I have ever seen. It was terrible. In fact, there were little pieces of rotten lettuce in it. My friend's salad was no different, and the tomato on his burger was a little black. (They had flipped the tomato over to hide the black spot. But when we saw the state of the lettuce, we did some investigating.) I would not tell anyone to go there. It's not worth the money."

"Honey Burger"

July 2011 — "This restaurant is located in downtown Montreal, it has several location across the city. I like this place because of the location and it has a nice terrace where you can seat outside and enjoy the summer weather under a nice shade. Unfortunately, my experience this time was not good. I asked for a Honey burger with salad. the salad was totally old. I had to asked to change it for something more fresh. The tomato that was inside my burger also was old so again i had to ask to the waiter to change. I was totally frustrated . the waiter was very patient and nice but what s wrong with the kitchen, they do not know that they can not serve old salad , that everything has to be fresh. I do not recommend this place"

"Typical Breakfast"

January 2011 — "Having received a coupon for a discount meal at Eggspectation, we decided to give it a try. We arrived around noon, and I ordered a Bacon and Cheddar Omelette with side potatoes. The omelette was tasty and the amount of cheese was very pleasing. The potatoes were a bit bland, but nothing ketchup couldn't take care of. The waitress was nice and the atmosphere was enjoyable. There was nothing extraordinary about the experience, but it is worth a visit every once in a while."

"Ideal for brunch"

Save Review

November 2010 — "If you're sick of the typical and obvious choice of Cora Déjeuners as a brunch location, Eggspectations is just perfect for the occasion. Though there aren't as many around the city, they are a great location, offering far better service and food in terms of quality. The menu is not as extensive, but everything is well executed: isn't that what really matters? Even at rush hour on a Sunday morning, you can be rapidly seated and politely and happily served by the waiters. Food comes out sizzling hot and is absolutely delicious!"

"Eggspect a great breakfast!"
Image

Save Review

July 2010 — "This Eggspectations is located on Saint-Jacques St.in Montreal, Quebec. If you are hungry for a great breakfast this is the place for you. Creative dished inspired by eggs are plentiful. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and a coffee. I was hoping that the flavor would take me back to Mexico, as I had recently enjoyed a holiday there and the meal tasted great! The eggs were served on corn tortillas and had onions and peppers and of course the spicy rancheo sauce. I had absolutely no complaints about the food, coffee or service. I just hunkered down and enjoyed myself. It should be noted that Eggspectations is not limited to eggs. The menu offers chicken, meat, fish and pasta dishes as well. Soups, quesadillas, and crabcakes are examples of appetizers, and crepes, pies and cake are available for dessert. If you get the opportunity check this place out. You definitely won't be disappointed. "
