We came here in late December for my wife's company Christmas party! We had two strings of tables right next to where the band was going to be set up.
The drinks were fantastic and flowing nicely. I can appreciate with a group our size it can be sometimes hard to keep up...but that was so not the case on this fine night.
Being it was a Christmas party the menu was pre-set and we had 3 options to choose. Beef, Chicken or fish. Both my wife and I ordered the chicken.
It was so delicious and moist! Dessert was also fantastic.
Just after we finished our dinner we were treated to live music. The band was fantastic and really got the crowd going...a few even were brave enough to hit the dance floor.
The service was truly outstanding...a big 10 out of 10 for me...wait to go Murrietas - I can't wait to come back! "

December 2011 — "I had never been to Murrieta's except for just a drink, so was interested in attending my wife's Christmas party that the restaurant. It was a very happening place with lots of parties and even a live band later in the night. Since we were a bigger group, we were given a banquet menu where we could pick an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. I have allergies to shellfish and nuts, and quite a few of the items on this menu had both in them, so it was a bit tricky. I started with some type of vegetarian pasta which was very disappointing. I could barely choke it down. However, my chicken entree was fantastic! The service was extremely good. The server was constantly at my side asking me about my allergies and refilling our drinks. Around 10 the band started up, which was fun, but our table was next to the stage and dance floor and it was impossible to have a conversation. The band didn't even take a break for probably 1.5 hours so we ended up leaving. It was fun seeing everyone dancing though. Great place for a Christmas party and probably a good place for a romantic night out when the place isn't full of Christmas partiers. "

September 2011 — "My date suggested we meet here for lunch this past week. The hostess was efficient, our waiter was & helpful with wine selection.
We shared the crab cakes - yummy. By far the best part of the whole meal. Lots of crab (not filler), non-greasy & had a tasty red pepper jelly on top.
I had the spinach salad with an order of prawns. Sad when only 3 shrimp came out - though they were tasty. 9salad itself not memorable).
My date had the scallop pasta. A bit spicy & the scallops were cooked perfectly.
Overall a 7/10

June 2011 — "I went to Murietta's with a group of friends a couple weeks ago for my friend's birthday party. I have been several times over the past few years with my Husband. We had a great night. Service was the usual just okay.
Everything was nice and going just fine until, we got the bill. We were all very surprised to see that we were charged for drinking water which is pretty observed! . We never asked for bottled water and none of us even realized that we were drinking what was "apparently" bottled water. We ended up paying $45.00 for bottled water which we never even asked for. I will most likely not be returning to this restaurant in the future. I find it very rude to assume that we wanted bottled water, and to charge us almost $50.00 for it and then when we did try to sort it out we were treated quite rudely by management. I find it very sneaky to serve bottled water and then charge for it when the customer has no idea this is taking place. "

May 2011 — "I went on a Thursday night and it was quite busy. The food was good and I’ve heard that the cooks make all their food with fresh ingredients. I’ve gone to Murreta’s numerous times for their brunch and was quite satisfied. The food took awhile to come out. The décor was beautiful and definitely a place you can take a fancy date but it does take a dent in your wallet. Expect to be paying a lot more than your average casual dinning restaurant. The service was a bit slow and we saw our server only twice, once to greet us and take our drink orders and the next to give us our bill. We didn’t make any complaints about the food taking so long but this is not a place I would go if I was very hungry as I realize the waiting time is just too long for me. I am guessing that if you go on a Monday or Tuesday it will be less busy. "

January 2010 — "Murrietas Westcoast Bar & Grill is a popular restaurant and lounge in the centre of downtown Calgary off Stephen Ave. and 1st St. SW. This is a restaurant suited for high-end dining and fancy dinner dates. Decor is amongst one of the most unique and interesting in the city. The main dining area is centered around a high glass ceiling looking up at the stars and the surroundings are supposed to mimic an French (or perhaps Italian alley.)
What sets Murrietas apart from a lot of the other restaurants is the food is prepared from scratch. Whether it is the ravioli or pasta, it is all made fresh right in the kitchen. On my dinner visit I tried the seafood soup as a main course which was fantastic and portion was much more than I could finish (surprising for a high-end dining experience) and finished off with the Oreo cheesecake which was amazing as well. Service was slow however and there was a lengthy wait for our food (more time to enjoy the ambiance I suppose.)
Murrietas also has a few other locations in Western Canada, including Vancouver, Canmore, and Edmonton. Large selection of wine is also available. "

August 2009 — "I went to Murrieta's with a friend for dinner. The ambiance, decor, courtyard-like room, and service were all top knotch. I was really impressed with this aspect of the restaurant.
We started off with the Calamari. It tasted good but was a little bit on the soggy side. I had the Duo Lamb and my friend had the Digby Scallops. My lamb was a little bit on the cool side and didn't have much flavor. The sides were not worth mentioning. I was disappointed. My friend really enjoyed the Scallops though.
The wine selection was really good and the wine we had was the Argyll Pinot Noir from the Willamette Valley (Oregon) and it was delicious.

July 2009 — "Just had dinner at Murrietes westcoast Bar and Grill on stephen Ave Calgary . I had the Half chikhen on mushroom fried rice, very tasty but took ages to cook . My son had the flat bread not bad but come on guys $13 is a bit steep for he got . Then was my husband had the scallops for $28 not good seemed raw . A nice resturant inside but a bit noisey because of the open plan . Might try lunch sometime but dinner not so sure"

What a great atmosphere, very relaxed and good people-watching opportunities. We both had a salad to start and shared a flatbread/pizza, topped with tomatoes and mozzarella, a nice light lunch. "
