April 2012 — "Spolumbo's sasauges are a common name you see when you are at the grocery store. They are known for their high quality sausages and variety of flavours. They also have a restaurant located in the historic Inglewood area of Calgary. While in Inglewood, we decided to give this restaurant a try. They have some limited parking beside their restaurant, otherwise you need to find street parking (which of course, you need to pay for). When we entered the restaurant, it was completely packed. The lineup to order food was overwhelming, but we decided to wait it out. I ordered a Spicy Italian Spolumbo Sasauge. This came in a bun and was very fresh. A large pickle also accompanied the sasauge. During lunch hour, finding a table was also very difficult because of the large crowd. All in all, we enjoyed our lunch. It is clear why this place is so popular amongst the locals. The sausages were so good, that we also ended up purchasing some uncooked sausages to go (uncooked) that we could BBQ from home. A place definitely worth checking out."

"Unique and delicious sandwiches"

July 2011 — "Spolumbos has long been a favourite sandwich and deli shop amongst Calgarians. It was opened by a group of Stampeders many years ago and has been loved by hometown diners ever since. The biggest reason for their success is their quality of food and meats. Located in the heart of Inglewood on 17th Ave their main location has an open and inviting atmosphere and more choices of deli meats than one can imagine all of which is sliced fresh in store. The interior of the dining hall is decorated with lots of famous entertainers and sports starts who have visited the iconic deli shop in the past. There is also a wide selection of deli sausages and even calzones which are worth a try as well. I have even noticed the Spolumbs logo inside the frozen section at the grocery store although I'd highly recommend give it try fresh at the deli."

"Best Italian Sandwiches "

April 2011 — "I'm a huge fan of salted cured meats and italian hoagies and everyone in Calgary has atleast heard of Spolumbo's and that the owner was a Calgary Stampeder back in the day. They are the only deli/restaurant that I've seen the sausages in all the local grocery stores. That says something about supporting local business and the quality of the food. I enjoyed a Spolumbo's Special paninih for $10 and it was huge. It has 5 kinds of Italian meat, provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, oregano and an anti-pasto-like spread. Don't forget to get some of their pickles on the side. Can't say for sure but they taste homemade. It feels and looks like a deli but the restaurant is the main attraction. It's a cool place inside with boisterous sounds of chatter since it's always packed. It gives you that feeling that this is what you would expect in Italy. You go up and order your sandwich, listen to them say your order with an Italian accent and watch them make it."

"Good Sausages."

August 2009 — "Spolumbo’s is a well known establishment in Inglewood, Calgary as you will often find their sausages being served in local restaurants and sold in grocery stores. Owned by former Stampeders you will find some sports memorabilia on the wall, lending to itself a very casual atmosphere. On the menu is a very large selection of sandwiches and it took me a while to decide on what I wanted to eat. In the end I settled on the Spolumbo sausage anyway, but it was a close call between that and the meat loaf sandwich. I’ll have to pay another visit to try that another time. Ordering the food was a bit more confusing as you had a lot of people behind the counter and it seemed very hectic as many orders were being ordered and assembled simultaneously. It was almost like a cafeteria style where you ordered your food then moved along the line, choosing your drink and chips before ending up at the end to pay. After you get your food, you find your table and enjoy your meal. There is no table service here, so be prepared to clean up after yourselves. For my sandwich, drink and chips my tab came in just over 10 dollars. Not cheap, but what really is in Calgary these days? Check this place out if your ever in the area."

"I guess it's good..."

April 2008 — "Call me old fashioned, but I'm just not a fan of counter-service. I went to Spolumbo's for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, and ended up lining up for a good 20 minutes to have my half-hearted Italian sub ordered. By the way, for the uninitiated, ordering can be an anxious procedure, as multiple counter-clerks yell without rhyme or reason for your order. Honestly, I'm not even sure if the sandwich I asked for was the sandwich I ended up getting. Even if it wasn't what I ordered, the sandwich itself was okay, I don't know if it was worth what I paid for it, but I guess the that's just the price you pay for good capicolla. I'm sure I'll be back, but by no means am I in a hurry."

"Yummy!"

May 2007 — "This is one of my favorite sandwich joints in Calgary! Spolumbos always uses the freshest in breads, meats and veggies, and you can tell. I’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve been there a few times but the most recent was for a lunch date the other day. The place was packed, but the service was very accommodating. I ordered the black forest ham sub on white with EXTRA pickles. Very, very good. These sandwiches are huge, so you never leave hungry. The atmosphere is also very energetic which helps after a grueling morning at the work place – it perks you right up! "

"Famous Sandwiches"

April 2006 — "Spolumbo's is famous in Calgary for offering a wide variety of gourmet sausages. Not being much of a sausage girl myself, I was never really interested in going. However I stopped in there one day for lunch (it was absolutely packed) and had one of their deli sandwiches. You pick the type of meat you want (they have a bunch of Italian sandwich meats like Genoa salami, etc. but they also have turkey breast) and I think you can pick what type of cheese you want too. The sandwiches are pretty expensive (I think around $8 or $9 not including drink or side dish) but they are phenomenal. They are fairly huge, so you can opt for a mini sandwich if you're not a big eater. They also have good gelato there, which the manager has given me for free in the past. so be prepared for a bit of a wait at peak times. It's also very noisy, which doesn't bother me but always kept my dad from agreeing to go there with me. "
