"New Years Eve Disaster!"
December 2010 — "The San Remo Ristorante in McKenzie Towne.
We went for New Years Eve dinner with my girl friend an her husband - My girlfriend made reservations in early Dec and then called on the 30th to confirm the reservation...all was good and confirmed. We arrived on the 31st...NO RESERVATION! They scraped together the only table left which wasn't ideal and was by the band, so it was very hard to have a conversation. The service was poor, food wasn't all that great either. It was a 4 course meal with an hour between courses, and the tiny 2 biters on a massive plate kind of course meal. The young men they had serving have no manners what so ever...served the guys their food first and then went back to get the ladies. There were bun plates on the table and never got buns, we had to request our candle be lit, and request water. We got a comp round of drinks and comp bottle of wine..which was nice but may have been all the better if the manager would have came by to check on us...instead we watched her visit and chat with every table but ours! We felt avoided due to the screw up. No one asked us how we were doing nor tried to help us feel more welcome after their error. The waitress we had was very nice, it was the management and the customer service that was really disapointing. Once we were home we all made nacho's as we were starved! My girl friend had been to this location once before and they had lost her reservation that time aswell. She won't be back, aswell with my husband and i.... or our family and friends for that matter. Too bad as the atmostphere is beautiful, and it's a great location.
We still had a wonderful New Years Eve as we were with the BEST company!!!

October 2008 — "This was a special night as we were celebrating two anniversary's. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. For an "upscale" restaurant the atmosphere was very comfortable. The food was excellent. All of our meals exceeded expectation, especially the Risotto, Wow! We would recommend San Remo as a place you must go to!"

February 2007 — "My boyfriend's family first introduced me to San Remo's several years ago, and during that visit the six of us sat for hours while slowly consuming five bottles of fine wine, all the while chatting with the owner until well after he had closed the restaurant to the rest of the world. He brought out tasty tidbit after tasty tidbit that he was experimenting with in the kitchen and schooled me on the basics of Northern Italian cuisine. In those days the 90th Avenue location was half the size it is now (and the Garrison Woods location didn't even exist), but it still maintains an intimate atmosphere, still maintains a solicitous staff (albeit with a different owner, darnit), and still presents such well-prepared dishes it feels like you're consuming an intention and not just a meal. I always leave with a warm, fuzzy feeling, like I was just hugged from the inside.
The veal is always excellent, and my boyfriend is a huge fan of the Involtini Di Pollo Al Gamberetti, a chicken scalloppini wrapped around jumbo shrimp and sautéed in a brandy garlic cream sauce. And for a starter, the crab-and-whiskey bisque is a definite must. Drop a few extra bucks for a nice bottle of wine to accompany the meal...it's worth it! "
