December 2011 — "I recently had the distinct pleasure of dining at the Cactus Club Café in NE Calgary. I hadn’t been to a Cactus Club in ten years or so and was blown away by the experience. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived, but we managed to get a table after a short wait. Our server was prompt and courteous. I ordered a glass of wine from their extensive wine list and my companion ordered a beer. I took my time perusing the menu, eyeing many delectable sounding dishes. I eventually decided on the soy Dijon salmon. While we waited for our entrees, we enjoyed the atmosphere. While the restaurant is open concept and was very busy, the design of the interior is beautiful and the glass dividers between tables and sections tempered the noise. Our food arrived and no words can do the soy Dijon salmon justice. It was simply incredible. My companion enjoyed his fajita so we were both happy with our meals. Although I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, we decided to share the chocolate peanut butter bar for dessert. It was decadent. Upon visiting the bathroom, I found it very clean and appreciated the fact that a staff member came in to check the stock and cleanliness of all of the stalls. My only complaint would be that the water in the bathroom was freezing. The entire evening at Cactus Club was an enjoyable experience and I look forward to going back (and will probably order the same thing!). "

October 2011 — "My friends and I had an evening of celebration at the Cactus Club on a Saturday and let me tell you, it was really packed. Even on late notice, they took reservations It was a change to go eat somewhere out of the core and I think this place really paid off. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. The menu had so much to offer and the selection was crazy! Two of us ordered a steak and it when it came, it was definitely cooked to my liking – to perfection. The Four mushroom sirloin was so yummy. Just the right amount of sauce and the different mushroom types really came out in flavor and added to the dish. By the end of the meal, we were so hoping to try some of the desserts, but we were so stuffed. Any more and it would have been overkill. One of the best things about the Cactus club was even though it was super busy, we never felt the need to leave because we were taking the booth from anyone else. The last thing I want to note is the size of the washrooms. It was a nice themed place and well decorated, but the size was unbelievable. Mark my words, this won’t be the last time that we eat here. "Yummy as always!"

April 2011 — "Since the Cactus Club is one of my favorites, we decided to head out for a great meal. I started my meal with their Blackberry Cohiba drink, which is their take on a Mohito. It was so delicious I had to have two...and my sister did as well. My husband stuck with his standard "Ugly Ale" which he always enjoys. As usual, I could not decide what to eat so my husband and I shared the Halibut Tacos and the Short Rib Sandwich. The tacos are always a light refreshing meal if you don't want something too heavy. The Short Rib sandwich is possibly the best "beef dip" in Calgary...heavy on the garlic though so watch out! My sister had one of the specials which was the Braised Shortribs with a Pineapple Glaze...YUM!!! I may have a new favorite meal now. My brother in law had the creole steak and shrimp which he said was amazing and judging by how fast he ate it, I guess it was! We skipped desert this time, but do try the cheesecake there as it is fabulous. All in all, another great meal at the Cactus Club."

"Willing to go that extra mile"

September 2010 — "We decided on Cactus Club for a company lunch, with a group of 30 people. Generally, they do not accept reservations but the manager made an exception and booked us in for busy Friday 12:00 appointment. They were ready right when we arrived with a table big enough to fit all of us. The service was excellent, and they made an effort to put every person of 30 on separate tabs, which I’m sure is not a easy feat. Food arrived all reasonably together and the service was quick to response to drink order and special requests. I would suggest this establishment to other."

"Tasty food - no nutritional info!"

April 2010 — "Ate at the Cactus Club on Barlow (north of 32nd) for lunch. Great food, great ambience, pretty / efficient bartender (she had our bill prepared and waiting for us in a shot glass as we ate - really nice touch for those who've only got 1 hour for lunch!) My only negative comment would be that I can't find any nutritional information about the meal we enjoyed. "

"An Overall Pretty Good Experience"

January 2009 — "We were pretty much driving aimlessly down Barlow Trail looking for somewhere to eat when we came across the northeast location of the Cactus Club. We had never been to this location before, so thought we'd try it out. It was a Tuesday night around 7:30pm, so you wouldn't think it would be too busy, but this place was packed. We didn't want to wait for a table, so we chose to sit in the bar area. The only table available was this two-seater right at the entrance to the kitchen. In retrospect I would have waited for a different table because it almost felt like I was part of the kitchen, as I could hear what the cooks and servers were saying and I could hear all the pans banging etc. The server was very friendly and she was pretty efficient. I chose to get a burger with mushrooms and bacon with fries. It was good. My wife had the teryaki rice bowl, which she said was just ok. The sauce was supposed to be yogurt-based, but it seemed more like a mayo-based dip as it was quite heavy. Other than the poorly-located table, the overall experience was pretty good."

"A Hidden Gem!"

November 2008 — "I had never been to a Cactus Club Cafe and had actually never heard anything about it, but on a recent night out with my girlfriend we were looking for somewhere to eat near Chinook Centre - we wanted to catch a movie afterward. We spotted this restaurant and decided to check it out. We were greeted by at least 3 hostesses and were then shown to a table near the front of the restaurant. The ambiance is actually a lot more upscale than I had pictured from the outside of the building. The lighting is a bit on the intimate side and it has a contemporary feel. The place was packed when we got there - around 5:30 on a Friday. The menu featured a wide range of items like burgers, sandwiches, salads and appetizers. They had some specials and I chose to get the Jack Daniels ribs with mashed potatoes and asparagus. We started with some hot wings, which were very good and my girlfriend ordered a meal-sized salad that had spinach, breaded chicken, heirloom tomatoes etc. in it. My ribs were absolutely fantastic and the portion was huge! The salad was definitely meal-sized, it had a huge piece of chicken in it! I had the liberty of trying both entrees and can't complain about one thing. The service was sensational. Everytime we needed something the server was right there. We ordered the house beer, which was called something like Udder Ale, and found it to be very tasty. For dessert we split the cheesecake and even that was delicious. Throughout the entire experience the staff was always clearing dishes, replenishing drinks and being very attentive. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we actually missed the movie! We'll definitely eat at the Cactus Club Cafe again."

"Good food and service"

September 2008 — "I like the Cactus Club. When I used to work in the area, it was a great spot for lunch and still is. Our server on this recent visit was very friendly. She made small chat, asked how the food was, checked on re-fills, and was really friendly and pleasant. The food was good too. I ordered the salmon sandwich; a decent portion of fresh salmon (not a processed patty) served on top of a ciabatta-style bun with a caper tarter sauce-I asked for the sauce on the side and this wasn't a problem-thank-you! The filet of salmon was very moist and flavorful. I would definitely order this again. My friend had the spinach and artichoke quesadilla and was also pleased. In the future, I would love for the restaurant to have its nutritional information available on their website. "

"It was ok - convenient because opens til midnight on weekday"

February 2008 — "I went here since my friend recommended the 7 ounce fillet steak medium rare. The steak was nice. I found the asparagus on the plate to be soaked with too much oil though - and the waitress actually got my order wrong since I ordered beans to replace the asparagus but didn't want to hassle her about it. My friend ordered the seafood linguine and I thought that was much too creamy for a tomatoe based pasta. I thought it was ok...it was just convenient to go to because it was past 10 pm on a weeknight and not too many options. I wasn't full after my dinner and an appetizer of salad. "

November 2007 — "We have been to the Vancouver locations several times and always had a great experience. Couldn't wait to try the Calgary location and as usual, we were impressed. The food is outstanding. The wine selection is good and the service is fantastic. It is a bit of a casual atmosphere but still very nice. My girlfriend loved the bathrooms! Go and give it a try!"

"Fits the Formula"

October 2007 — "Mexican-influenced American cuisine is on the menu at this standard, modern Calgary restaurant. The food is good: decent portions at decent prices and there are a wide range of meals to choose from. The Garden Burger is surprisingly tasty and the quesadillas are fresh and full. I prefer places with a bit more character, but the atmosphere here is still nice with dark wood, stainless steel, and big soft yellow lights. Pleasant but very uniform with the likes of Earls, Moxies and the rest. Actually, they all tend to meld into one in my memory. It's a popular restaurant, and it's not unusual to wait 10 or 20 minutes for a table. The restaurant staff are polite and very capable and to sum up, I suppose it's a dining experience you can depend on."

"Great Food and Ambience"

January 2007 — "Awesome Food and great service. It's my overall most chosen place to eat. The ambience and mood of the place is great. Even the style of the bathrooms is amazing. A few dishes that I would suggest would be: Calamari (as an appetizer), Smoke house chicken quesadillas (for something light), Kung pau Noodle Bowl (for something spicey but very yummy), and I better stop before I end up listing the whole menu. Their Bellinis are pretty good too if you're into that sort of drink. Check it out!"
