February 2010 — "Although it has arguably the best dining views in town, Earl's Jasper probably gets a leg up in terms of visitor traffic because of its franchise name. That said, visiting Earl's hardly feels "cookie cutter." If anything, the corporate structure gives the dining experience consistency, something that lesser restaurants don't always achieve. The best thing about Earl's is that it succeeds in being many things at once. One can have a fine dining experience—an excellent wine list will appeal to most connoisseurs—or one can grab a stool at the bar and watch sports. Families can enjoy a causal meal while groups of 10 enjoy Bellinis on the patio. Somewhat surprisingly, the exotic menu items at Earl's Jasper really deliver. Try the tuna/salmon rolls for a generous portion of tempura-infused sushi. The Thai green curry (with prawns to spoil yourself) will catch you off guard with its creamy coconut spice and the kung pow noodle dish will kung pow your socks off. You can't go wrong with the sandwiches either: the grilled chicken and baked brie ciabatta or the bigger, better burger are worth back-to-back trips. The salads are huge and healthy and if you want Alberta beef, the steaks are tender and grilled to perfection. In short, don't discount Earl's Jasper. Consistency is everything."
