September 2011 — "We were coming back from a ball tournament in Exshaw when we decided to stop off at the Walmart before heading back to Edmonton. The Blind Monk was near Walmart so we decided to stop and get lunch before we headed home. We ordered the layered dip and it was fantastic. It was warm and flavourful and it was huge. We had troubles putting it aside when our main dishes were brought to the table. The service was really good and the atmosphere was perfect for a restaurant/pub. We'll go back again if we're in that neck of the woods. "

"Friendly pub but poor food"

September 2011 — "Recently a friend and I decided to give the relocated pub that is Blind Monk on 11th Ave a try. There used to be a Blind Monk location on 4th Street a few years back but it has since closed and another location opened closer to the downtown core. The location is kind of odd since there are no other bars in close proximity and it is quite a far walk from the 17th Ave Red Mile. It is just across the street from Safeway on 11th Ave and 8th Street. The bar did have a cozy and relaxed atmosphere although it was not busy. The only crowded table was due to a fantasy football draft taking place. We visited on a Tuesday and decided to check out their taco specials which were a dollar each and we were quite disappointed. The tacos small enough to eat in one bite and hardly had any filling inside. Although the service was friendly it hardly made up for the poor quality of the food."

"Great Service!"

April 2010 — "We went to the Blind Monk for the first time early one Sunday afternoon. It's a nice location in the neighbourhood of Royal Oak in the northwest. It's not super fancy but still warm and welcoming. We got to choose our own table and before we even sat down our waitress arrived with a warm welcome and menus. Since it was early Sunday afternoon, we could order from the Brunch menu options or choose from the regular options. I ordered the Bombay Hippy Pizza, it was quite tasty and a lot larger than I thought it would be. It was reasonably priced at $13 and I ended up taking some home. My friend had the Classic Eggs Benedict and enjoyed it. My boyfriend had the Taco Salad, which also came in a large and generous portion. Overall, we had a good experience here and our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable in offering suggestions for what to order. It's a nice to have a friendly neighbourhood pub in the area and we'll definitely go back again."

November 2009 — "My husband and I recently tried out The Blind Monk location in NW Calgary. The service was fine and the menu was pretty decent for a small neighborhood pub, there was a fair selection of items to choose from. We had spring rolls as an appetizer, and when it came out there were 5 small rolls on the plate. Why an odd number? Usually people share appetizers, so having 6 would have made more sense. Especially since the price was $10 and it was obvious they were not made in-house. I found that price to be way too steep for what we actually got. The main dishes were fairly priced though, tasted good, and were of decent proportions. When we were finished our meal, our server asked if we would like anything else. We asked for a dessert menu and she said they didn't actually have a printed menu but that she could tell us our 3 choices verbally. We decided on a Brownie Bite and the Cappuccino Cheesecake. What we should have done was ask what the prices were. When our desserts came out, my Brownie Bite was actually slightly larger than the miniscule sliver of cheesecake my husband received. We couldn't believe how small a piece it was. It was about the size of a business card, just triangular instead of rectangular. Needless to say, we were curious to see the bill when it arrived. My dessert was $4, which was on the pricey side for a tiny little bite of brownie, but the cheesecake? Total highway robbery at $7 for the slice! We were absolutely floored, but decided to just pay our bill and not return. My advice to anyone considering eating at this establishment is to focus on the main course and skip appetizers or desserts."
