August 2010 — "Ruan Thai is a long standing favorite in my family, particularly after spending ample time in Thailand and craving real Thai food. When we first started eating at Ruan Thai the prices were incredibly decent, but as with most restaurants in Calgary, the prices just keep going up so we don't visit as often anymore. It has a nice atmosphere and spaced out well so that you don't feel as though you're sitting with your neighbor. The service has always been very good and the food consistently tasty. This time we started with the vegetarian spring rolls (around $9) followed by the Thai Papaya Salad ($12.50) with green papaya, dried shrimp, roasted ground peanuts, tomato and a spicy dressing. We shared two main entrees; Yellow Curry and coconut milk with Chicken for around $15, and the Vegetable Panang Curry (around $12) with tofu and red and green peppers. We always get the coconut rice - the more coconut the better! All in all the food was as good as always this time round, although I noticed the portions seemed smaller but perhaps I'm just forgetting from the last time. If you want good, authentic Thai food, then this is the restaurant for you.

"Pad Thai thats no lie!"

April 2010 — "I was turn onto this place by a co worker.
The location is great, just inside downtown, the parking is minimal but street parking is great. They have a lunch buffet that varies but is very delicious. The best dish in my opinion is the Pad Thai.
To put it simply it is to die for! I have had Pad Thai all around the world (except Thailand) and this is by far the best. The veggies are crisp the chicken is tender and the sauce is amazing.
The Staff are friendly and treat you well! If your looking for amazing Pad Thai with a great location and fantastic staff this place is for you."

March 2008 — "Definitely one of my favorites, if not at the top of my list of Thai food. It is about as authentic as you can get in Calgary (I've been to Thailand, it's the closest I've found!) right down to the "laid back" attitude of the staff which sometimes results in a bit of wait time. Don't go here if you're in a hurry. If you have time to relax, enjoy the people you're with, and really savour the food, this is the place to go. "

August 2006 — "When I have a hankering for Thai food, I head here. The food is fantastic, especially the panang curry, the cashew chicken and the tom khaa gai soup. I travelled in Thailand for 3 months and this is as good as it gets in Calgary as far as I am concerned. It's a family-run establishment so service is friendly but slow during busy times (such as weekend evenings)"

DescriptionRuan Thai features authentic Thai cuisine in a spacious setting with Thai inspired decorations. The menu features more than 150 selections, including a variety of vegetarian dishes. A lunch buffet is offered, and dinner and take-out are both available. Private meeting and dining rooms are on the premises, and reservations are recommended. The hours are Monday to Friday 11:30 am to 10 pm, and Saturday 5 pm to 10 pm.
