April 2012 — "Although I went to highschool in the area I never had the chance to try the Pannenkoek Haus. When my friend suggested it for dinner one night, I decided I wouldn't mind finally trying it out. The decor is pretty plain and quite usual for a traditional family run restaurant. I was kind of taken aback by the odd menu combinations and wondered how I was going to get my daily vegetable intake from the heavy carb, meat and cheese loaded options. I finally ordered the savory cheese, potato and sausage pancake. Our food came out quite quickly, and they were ginormous! The taste was overwhelmingly salty and heavy, and the sausage was not what I anticipated either. Although it was alright I don't think I would ever go back, it didn't seem worth the calorie intake. We were pretty full after our dinner but as I was somewhat disappointed in the taste bud area I suggested we share a dessert pancake. This was a nice surprise for my taste buds although still ginormous. The best part was probably the delicious huge baked cherries. I say go for a sweet pancake -- but don't think too much into the savory unless you are okay with the heart attack inducing ingredient overload. "

"Inside out perogy!"

April 2011 — "The Pannenkoek House is located near 50th Ave right off of Crowchild Trail SW. They have really good service and offer something a bit different than your regular restaurant. They are a traditionl Dutch establishment and serve up their famous Pannenkoeks true to tradition! At about $12 each, there is a huge range of different ingredients to choose from. I went for the bacon, cheese and onion, which was served with a side of cream for dipping. It's basically a huge potatoe pancake with the toppings fried in and is pretty thin. It's served on a huge plate and you just cut little pieces off and dip them in the sour cream. It tasted like a giant perogy to me! So good! The service was fast and friendly and everything was very clean and well put together. I would recommend the Pannenkoek House to anyone who wants to try something a bit different! "

"Unique place!"

April 2011 — "My sister recommended the Pannenkoek Haus as a place for our family to go for breakfast on Easter weekend. It was VERY busy when we arrived with people lining up out the door. The staff were very calm and efficient and managed to get our table of 6 seated within 15 minutes or so. Our server was very friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming with traditional memorabilia from all over Holland adorning the walls and collected in display cases. The coffee was fantastic and was served with a little apple cinnamon wafer which you can also buy in sealed packages to take home. The "Pannenkoeks" are the main attraction and are a cross between a regular pancake and a potato pancake. You can order it with savory toppings, sweet toppings, or a combination of the two which would be like bacon and raisin, which is what I ordered. It was delicous! They are very large and could probably be split between 2 people. Great service, great food, and a unique cultural experience makes this a wonderful restaurant to visit! "

"Out of the Ordinary Breakfast or Brunch!"

February 2011 — "My friend had been raving about this Dutch breakfast house for ages. And she finally decided it was time to bring me in one Saturday morning. I didn't know what to expect, but she had mentioned they were famous for their Dutch pancakes. So I thought how different could they really be. When we walked in we were welcomed warmly, like we were visiting granny's house for tea. We were seated and promptly waited on. I ordered a coffee which came with several little biscuit style cookies. Very delightful! And one of the best coffees I have had in a restaurant. I let my friend order for me as she had been many times before and knew what I would like. The Dutch pancakes are crepes, and come with toppings baked right inside them. Anything from a outside bacon and cheese perogie, to chocolate banana. Or Savory and sweet together raisins and bacon. I had the outside Perogie. When it came to our table I could hardly believe my eyes. For $9.00 It was huger than the plate itself, the hugest pancake I have ever seen. I could only finish half. It was very good. I have gone back many times, and brought people I love. It is simply an amazing little Dutch breakfast place, everyone should try it, you will keep going back and bring all your friends and family!! "Best Customer Service"

May 2010 — "I went here with my girlfriend for dinner and once we got in there, we were greeted by this really nice waitress (I think she owns the place?). We were given menus and were serviced frequently. We ordered the bacon mushroom cheese pancake to share (you can make up your own combination of ingredients for the pancakes if you want as well). It was great as two dishes arrived with the pancake cut in half for each of us (we did not have to have a fork fight over the same plate). We ended off the meal with a sweet pancake, which was the apple cinnamon with additional vanilla ice cream (they gave us 3 scoops and it was plenty). It was a satisfying meal, the pancakes were crispy, thin and delicious. I would definitely come back again. Their restaurant also sells many Dutch goodies on the counters and they had these licorice Mentos. "

"Potatoes on Pancakes?"

April 2007 — "What I love about this place is that there is not one bad thing on the menu. I have tired about 10 or 15 of their dishes and every one is delicious even the things you would think are weird, like potato, bacon, cheese and chive pancakes. Also make sure that you get the regular coffee. It comes with this wonderful little cookie that is so good that I bought a box of them to take home. My one warning would be " Don't get the special black forest cake pancake if you are a diabetic!!!" "

February 2007 — "Normally I hate pancakes, but these one are soooooooo good! They are more like crepes then pancakes and come with anything you could ever want (and many things you never new you wanted) on a pancake. Everything from meats, to fruits, to ice cream are used on these delicious pancakes, and every combination is good (even the weird ones). This is a great place for breakfast or lunch, and it definitely fills you up as they are quite large, especially if you get the ones piled high with toppings. I would recommend Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus to anybody!"

"Whats the big deal, it just a pancake"

February 2007 — "I went to Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus with my wife and young daughter, hoping for something a little different. Well a little different in Calgary means a long line up, for all the other people looking for something a little different. The atmosphere was fine, very ski lodge-ish. I was far from impressed. If a big greasy pancake impresses you, that's great. I would have been more impressed if I was not paying $10 for $1.50 worth of ingredients that was bland and uninspired. These are more like crepes so they are flat and not fluffy like traditional north American pancakes. My 2 year old ate most of a whole one and I and my wife were still hungry and unsatisfied when done. We have never gone back. "

"Pancake Heaven"

June 2006 — "I've been going to the Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus for years and have never been dissapointed. Both the sweet and the salty pancakes are a treat, with the Stroop (Dutch molasses) pancake being a personal favourite. Be forewarned, it packs up during peak breakfast times but is always worth the 10-15 minute wait."
