September 2008 — "A hop onto the #1 Victoria Transit bus will take you to this charming British tea room and restaurant situated in the Oak Bay district of Victoria, B.C. It is famous for its authentic decor, souvenir shop, and staff who are dressed in authentic tea room style. The neighborhood adds to the attraction because of the quaint shops and that it is a reasonable walk to beautiful Oak Bay itself. The Blethering House is famous for its afternoon tea (try the scones with homemade jam), as well as its restaurant menu. It is also known for its Saturday night entertainment in the style of a British pub. We were there for lunch, and I was pleased with the piping hot vegetarian quiche I had chosen. The expected fish and chips or shepherd's pie were also on the menu, as well as many other choices. An accompanying green salad was fresh and crisp. I chose the house dressing which was yogurt and dill. I had asked for the salad to be a smaller than usual portion restaurants often serve, and my waitress listened to that request. The only disappointment was a rather bland cup of coffee at the end of the meal."
