March 2012 — "Service always slow at this restaurant. The MBar location is inside a hotel in downtown Calgary. I enjoyed a top sirloin steak while my company had a loaded burger. Although they needed some reminders from us on a few adjustments (Example, sauce on the side for the burger, soup with the steak..etc), they didn't do a terrible job on the quality of the meal. The service was a little slow than I prefer. We were kept waiting for our bill. Our server was very cheerful, that is positive. The entire restaurant was not too busy as it was snowing that day. "

February 2012 — "I went to Moxie's at about 11:30-1:30 on a weekday. We had made a reservation for a party of about twenty for specifically the restaurant side, but we were put in the lounge. The lounge was noisy; it was challenging to carry on a conversation. However, the food tasted great, and I didn't even have the white chocolate brownie. I ordered a salmon dish with mango salsa. The vegetable side was sparse: a few sprigs of asparagus and a few choppings of beet."

"Moxies Sandman North"

February 2012 — "I recently went on a "date night" to Moxies at the Sandman in North Calgary. We had decided on Moxies because neither of us had been to one in a while and I had never been to this particular location. It was a Wednesday night so it wasn't too busy and we were seated in a discreet, quiet booth. I ordered a glass of wine and my boyfriend ordered a beer and we sat down and took a long look at the menu. I had never ordered steak at Moxies before and decided to give it a try. Our server was very friendly and assured me that if my steak was not cooked to my liking I must let him know and he would bring me a new one. I ordered the top sirloin (medium rare) with a stuffed potato and vegetables. The steak was cooked perfectly and the vegetables were great. The potato was okay but it was much too salty for me and I couldn't eat much of it. The restaurant itself is very nicely decorated. The bathroom was clean and well stocked. I would definitely go back to this Moxies."

January 2012 — "I am a big fan of Moxie's and pretty much have my favourite dishes that I order every time I go... sliders, enchiladas, steak... so when my work announced they were going to have a get together for us and our wives at the Moxie's in Shawnessy, I was definitely happy with the restaurant choice. Our party was in the lounge, which was very busy as there were hockey games on and it was a Saturday night. Since there was a large group of us, we were given the options of an appetizer (two kinds of soup or two kinds of salad), an entree of steak, chicken or salmon, and dessert (mousse or brownie). I have allergies and both the chef and the server took great care in making sure my food was not contaminated. I chose the broccoli cheddar soup to start. It was good, but mostly made up of processed cheese and probably very unhealthy! For my main I had the steak, which was cooked perfectly and very good. I had the mousse for dessert, also good. The service was very attentive, and at points the manager was helping run out orders and take plates. I am happy to report it was another good Moxie's experience"

"Noisy but alright"

December 2011 — "I recently had lunch with a couple of co-workers at the Moxie’s downtown location. This restaurant gets quite busy at lunch but we managed to get a table right away. Our server came fairly quickly and took our drink orders. The speed of the service was not great, but it was during the lunch rush so it is forgivable. She was friendly, so that helped. I decided to try something I hadn’t had before: the tandoori salmon salad. I couldn’t really imagine what tandoori salmon would be like, but was feeling adventurous. Our food came reasonably quickly, and the salad was alright. I can’t complain about the freshness of the ingredients, I think tandoori chicken just isn’t for me. I did eat it but I wouldn’t order that dish again. My biggest complaint would be that the restaurant is very loud. During the busy lunch rush, I do expect it to be noisy, but they had the music turned up as well and I found it very difficult to hear the conversation of my companions. "

"Westhills Location"

November 2011 — "On a rare occasion we were up in the Westhills Shopping Centre area and saw the Moxies. It was around 3pm on a Saturday so the place wasn't too busy. I am a big fan of the Enchiladas at Moxie's so decided to order that again, as well as bruschetta as a starter. I mentioned that I have allergies to nuts and shellfish and the server, manager and Chef took this very seriously. Each course was delivered by the chef and I was checked out by everyone to make sure I wasn't having an allergic reaction with each course. It was above and beyond anything I had experienced at a Moxies. The entire experience was pretty good, although my wife had the beef dip and said it was not too great. I didn't want to try because I was satisfied with my choices. If we're in the area, I will likely go back to this location because the service was well above average."

"Slow slow slow service"

October 2011 — "This is for the MBar location in downtown, second floor inside Sandman hotel. We arrived at 430 and seated ourselves because they are no servers around to help you, and because it is a lounge location so you need to seat yourself. We waited 20 minutes before a server came up to us and gave us a menu. We waited another 10 minutes before any order was taken. We had already let our server know that we are in a rush to finish dinner but that didn't matter. Our meals didn't come until 50 minutes after we placed the order. We didn't even order an appetizer and we had to wait that long. It is too much of a delay and we even mentioned it to the manager, he didn't do much to help us. He didn't take any discount off our bill either. He didn't rush the restaurant. He simply apologized. What do I have to say to that? Meh. What is worse is that the crowd level is light. There were lots of empty tables near us too. This type of service is not appreciated and I will definitely not tip high. Food quality was average. The fully loaded burger was not great. It was too greasy."

"Too loud and no seats"

October 2011 — "It was only dinner time in the lounge and the music was on loud, blasting my ears off. It's not that I am too old for this type of scene, I am only 23! I like to sit in the lounge to enjoy good music and have a nice verbal chat with my company but today was very difficult for a nice chat. I had to shout from the bottom of my lungs so that the person sitting next to me would be able to hear me properly. I had to shout to order my food from the server. I did not enjoy dinner here at all tonight. Good thing the food was good, or else I would never come back to this location (17th Ave). The crowd in this lounge are mostly stinky smelly drunks."

"Very delicious mains!!"

August 2011 — "After a struggle to finally pick a place and eat dinner at, we decided to eat at Moxie's. We arrived on a weekday night around 7'o clock and it was fairly busy. Moxie's is known for its lounge feel with dark dark lighting and pumping music. It was a bit loud from the kitchen and the music, and although I didn't have to raise my voice to carry a conversation, it bothered me that it was distracting. The service was quite slow and we found it weird that they quickly took our appetizer order and did not bother to ask for our entree which we were ready with. They told us that they would quickly be back with our appetizer, brushchetta, but it definitely did not feel quick. After we finally ordered our mains, our appetizer came out. The bread was so warm and moist and had a layer of light butter on it, however I found it a bit difficult due to its softness to place the bruschetta mixture on top. It was a very simple mixture with tomatoes, onions, some basil and lemon juice. It was very delicious and we couldn't wait for our mains. I decided to order the Chipotle Mango Chicken which was on the summer menu and sounded appetizing to me. It was going for the price of $18. It came with such a variety of flavours! First the chicken had a spicy dry rub on it and was grilled, the chicken breast had just the right amount of spice and was very moist. Thin mango slices were placed on top to counteract the spice as well as salsa of tomatoes and avocado. It was also placed on a bed of basmati rice and whole carrots which were steamed and lightly grilled finish the dish. I really enjoyed my dish and was impressed with the mixture of flavours and how they all worked so well together! My entree was delicious and I would definitely recommend it! "

"Just alright"

August 2011 — "I was meeting a friend I hadn't seen in a while for a bite to eat and we decided Moxies was a good convenient choice for us. The hostesses seemed preoccupied and weren't helpful when it came to directing us as to where to sit so we just grabbed an oversized booth (one of the only spaces available) in the bar. It was supposed to be the night where martini shakers were on sale, so I ordered the White Cosmo one which was delicious -- you get the whole shaker to refill your class 2-3 times which is awesome! The downside was that she charged me regular price come time to pay the bill which wasn't so awesome. I had a ginger asian bowl type thing was was decent and pretty filling, although nothing to write home about. I felt the atmosphere was just boring and our server seemed consistently discouraged we didn't want more liquor. I'd say Moxie's just alright -- then again what more do you expect from a big chain restaurant? "

"MBar UFC night"

July 2011 — "There was no servers present upon our arrival. We had to seat ourselves. Our server let us know they will charge us $10 per person because of UFC night. We had no idea it was UFC night and did not really want to pay for this fee but we decided to stay regardless. Our server spoke to her manager and said it was okay for us to not pay the UFC fee. This made our night a little better. The quality of fish and chips was not top notch. It tasted just like any other regular homemade fish and chips. The excess greasy evidently remained on the fish. It wasn't that good. The quality of strawberry papaya salad (seasonal dish) was also not all that flavorful. The amount of diced papaya and chopped strawberry was minimal. The white zin sangria was also not all that flavourful regardless of added garnishes. The garnish within the glass included a cherry, two mint leaves, slice of lime, lemon and orange. There was some verbal fight among the customers tonight. The manager had to calm them down and ask one to leave. Manager handled the situation very well."

"Paying too much for average food"
Image

Save Review

May 2011 — "I’ve been to Moxies around Alberta and before Moxies was a very family oriented restaurant where you could bring your kids. After visiting the Moxies in Market mall, I had mixed feelings. The ambiance is very nice and has shifted from a family restaurant to more of a hipper restaurant which also means an increase of price. For what you’re paying for, it doesn’t really seem worth it. We had drinks and nachos. The drinks were fine but the chips tasted like paper. Our server was friendly but did not seem that knowledgeable of the food on the menu when we asked her which dishes were spicy or how large the portions of food were. I did notice that the prices of the drinks and food has definitely increased in the last few years. Overall this is a place I would go to because it is convenient and close to where I live but there are definitely better restaurants out there. "

"Moxie's downtown is a good lunch spot"

April 2011 — "Moxie's is a good spot right downtown, especially if you can get there before 12 noon when there is still room. Our server was having her birthday and was particularly bubbly - very refreshing after sitting in my office all morning. The menu is interesting with some twists, such as the Kitsilano sandwich with chicken with grilled asparagus, warm tomato sauce and age white cheddar on naan bread; or the fish tacos (these are delicious) with fried chipotle lime marinated cod! Today I chose the soup and sandwich combination, with the broccoli cheese soup and a half turkey club (without the bacon in my case). The meal was filling without being ridiculous in size (either small or large). I appreciated the soup - sometimes the broccoli cheese can be kind of ...cornstarchy? in some restaurants but this one was smooth and soupy rather than chunky or gloppy. The meal and my drink came to under $14. The restaurant is always clean and the food always tastes fresh. "

January 2011 — "We were up visiting my grandmother in the shawnessy area and decided to treat her to dinner. She picked Moxies, so off we went. I haven't been in a Moxies in quite some time. The one in Shawnessy is sure fancier than I remember and the prices higher to boot! It was just after 4:00 and the restaurant was almost empty so we were sat quickly. My first complaint is the booths. Although I usually prefer sitting in a booth, it was very difficult for my elderly grandmother to get in and out of the seats. We sat there for quite a few minutes before we were offered drinks. It seemed quite disorganized between the servers. I had the burger, my grandmother and daughter had the chicken tenders and my wife had the beet and arugula salad. She had asked for the dressing on the side but alas when it came the dressing was already mixed into the salad. We did not complain because quite honestly with an elderly women and 5 year old we wanted in and out of there quickly. All of our meals were good. The bill came and I was shocked to see the price at over $70.00 - all and all - it was just kind of meh... I think it was overpriced and I don't think we will be returning any time soon!"

December 2010 — "Laughable and offensive at the same time. When bad service and bad food meet this way its hard not to laugh. But the laughter soon made way for the coordinated assult on the concept of taste. Forgot to get us drinks twice after we had to ask. Sent out a steak so tough a knife wouldnt cut it. Wrong sides. Btw Hold the garlic butter means add lots and send out a raw steak. The calamari serving was so small but i think that was due to its extended stay at the bottom of the deep fryer. Do yourself a favour and take your date for fast food. Cheaper and less embarassing."

"The Yes Beef Vindaloo"

November 2010 — "Okay, I get that every Moxies has the same menu, but if someone can please explain to me why the beef vindaloo is so good, I’d love to know. For whatever reason I always order it whenever I visit the Moxies on 17th ave. Furthermore, for some reason it is never not good. I don’t care if the ingredients come from a jar, it is simply a very well done combination of spicy meat and sauce with a nice coconut rice and “naan” bread. The restaurant itself has seen a drastic renovation from the old red mile days, and feels as though it is more bar than restaurant now. This isn’t necessarily a complaint, just an observation. Our service was alright, although I would have enjoyed our server more if she did not push the drinks as hard as she was, but I guess part of that was our fault for sitting on the bar side as opposed to the restaurant side. August 2010 — "When trying to decide where to eat in the downtown area, I remembered that there was a Moxies in the Sandman Hotel. It was a Sunday night of a long weekend and when we arrived the place was pretty dead... However, it picked up as the night went on. Our server greeted us pretty quickly and got us some beverages. I was a bit annoyed that if you wanted a drink that was non-alcoholic, they don't list them anywhere on the menu. We chose to split the pulled pork sliders to start, which were really good. They had big slices of pickle on them, which gave them a nice crunchy texture. For my main I ordered the veal and pancetta burger with fries. It was pretty good. My wife got the beef vindaloo, and I ate her naan bread, which was delicious as always. I thought the food and atmosphere was pretty good, but it wasn't the most amazing Moxies experience I've had."

August 2010 — "On a rainy Friday afternoon I had the rare opportunity to go out to lunch with my wife instead of work. We had never been to the Southport location of Moxie's and in fact didn't even know it existed until we drove by it when searching for somewhere to eat. It was quite busy being lunch hour, but we got a nice booth in the lounge. Our server greeted us within a few minutes and took our drink orders. I didn't know this, but Moxie's has a lunch menu with some pretty good deals on it. I got the philly cheese steak sandwich with fries, gravy and the basil mayo dip. I went all out. It was really good and I had no problem devouring the entire thing in a short amount of time. My wife had the soup/half sandwich combo and I tried her beef dip and thought it was good too. We were in and out within 45 minutes, which was an added bonus as we were headed to a movie! If I'm this far south again, I won't hesitate to stop at this Moxie's. "

June 2010 — "If you're looking for a casual place to dine but would like some quality food, Moxies is one of these places. Very nice renos but still very relaxed environment. Their menu has lots of selection, there something for everyone in the group. Anything from just sandwiches, pasta and steaks. The service is always good and our orders always comes out right. Their appetizers and alcoholic beverages are really good as well. Just be sure be arrive a bit earlier than when you'd like be sat down because the place gets pretty packed by 6:30 or so and since they're so packed it sometimes takes a bit longer for your food to arrive. Also be sure to leave room for dessert for they have some of the best chocolate lava cake we're ever had. Another great thing is since Moxies are usually in Malls or Hotels there's always plenty of parking. Overall everything was great and we'll be back for more in the near future."

March 2010 — "I went for dinner at Moxie's Westhills with a number of family members. We had a large table and the server was energetic and mostly attentive. I spent quite a while trying to decide what to order. The menu is a comprehensive selection of modern cuisine and has plenty of tasty looking offers. I usually get the baja quesadilla when I eat there, but unfortunately decided to try something different. I settled on the citrus chicken fusion salad. It looked like it would be light, refreshing and flavourful from the description on the menu, and likely would have been if the wilted greens weren't drowning in an obscene amount of dressing. I suspect that this salad would be delicious if the greens were fresh and the dressing was on the side, and I would be open to ordering it again with the dressing on the side although I will probably go back to my default Moxie's menu item and order the baja quesadilla."

"Most disappointing experience ever"

February 2010 — "I visited Moxie's located in the Sandman Inn in downtown Calgary with about 20 friends to celebrate a friends birthday. We went to M-Bar upstairs with the intent of having drinks and munchies and watching an Olympic hockey game. While they advertised big screen TV's in the lounge, the screen was quite small and while there was a second screen, they informed us that it was not working. Therefore, it was very difficult to watch the game at all. The service was pretty much non-existent and while the server was great when she got around to us, it was clear that they were extremely under-staffed. After a few drinks I asked for a glass of water, but had to ask five times before I received one. The bill for two tables of people was given to us as one lump sum and not broken down by table or person. Hey folks... there's an app for that!!! This made it very difficult to separate the bill. The food was not edible. I can't say anything more than that. There was not one item that had any care taken to prepare it. This was a horrible experience and I don't think any of us will return."

November 2009 — "We went to the 17th Avenue Moxie's for dinner on a Tuesday evening. The restaurant had recently been renovated and the décor was very nice. The atmosphere was a bit darker, which actually makes the restaurant feel warmer. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite quiet, which kept the noise level quite low. The menu had a lot of options on it. In fact, I had a difficult time deciding what to order. I finally decided on the fish tacos with a salad. When my meal arrived, it seemed like it was huge. There was a lot of food. But the fish tacos were extremely good and since I was hungry I was able to eat all three. I did not realize that the fish was going to be battered and deep fried but it was very good and very flavourful with a bit of chipotle flavour. They came with salsa and guacamole as well as the lettuce on the tacos. The flavour of the salsa was very nice with just a bit of spicy. The salad was also very fresh with cranberries and feta cheese and a slightly sweet dressing. A nice offset to the tacos. We ordered wine with our meals, however we although we felt the food was reasonably priced, we felt the wine was a bit overpriced. Overall, we were happy with our experience and will go back again. October 2009 — "On our way to an event at Canada Olympic Park, we were thinking of somewhere to have a quick bite and I came up with the idea of heading to the Moxie's in Market Mall. When we entered the hostesses asked us if we wanted to dine in the lounge and we decided that would be fine if it wasn't too busy. It was about 75% full and I chose a table near the back of the lounge. Our server greeted us quickly, but was rather brusque in her manner. She told us the specials, but didn't make any effort to do anything but take our order and plop our drinks and food down. I actually wondered if I had offended her in some way, but my wife told me that she thought the server was just grumpy. I ordered the enchiladas, since I have had them at several other Moxie's locations and loved them. This time, however, the food wasn't as good. My wife had the avocado spring rolls and she also thought they weren't as good as the others we had had. I don't think that I will be making a special trip to go to the Market Mall Moxie's again any time soon."

September 2009 — "I enjoyed the fact that my table was on the extreme edge of the restaurant, so that the only person I saw was the server as she used the space as a hallway to access tables. I was in the mood to chill and didn't feel like hearing and seeing others. I was pleased that the place seemed quite quiet. The Applewood Pizza was really good, although it was barely enough to stave off my hunger. I tried the Sumac Pinot wine and was pleasantly surprised. It was a bit pricey though, at $8.50 a 6 oz glass, but that is par for the course in Calgary. The service was friendly, and perhaps a bit too talkative for me that evening. I think she was just in hyper mode, but wanting to relax, she came off as somewhat annoying. I had wanted to get online for a couple of minutes while waiting for my food, but she was unable to get me a password to access wireless. All in all, an enjoyable enough place to fill your face. "

June 2009 — "On a recent shopping excursion to Chinook Centre, I found myself really, really hungry and couldn't even fathom the thought of walking into one more store with my wife until my hunger was satisfied. Right at this moment we happened upon Moxie's and eagerly approached the hostess. We decided to sit in the restaurant, as the lounge was really full. They had Bad Boy beers on special for $8, which was a pretty good deal. I chose to have the enchiladas for my main course, while my wife had the Beef Vindaloo. The food honestly arrived in about 7 minutes!! I devoured my enchiladas as they were delicious. You are given three enchiladas, tastefully presented with guacamole, cheese, tomatoes etc on top. I was lucky enough to try my wife's Beef Vindaloo and thought it was also very good. It was served with coconut rice and had a nice yogurt topping. Beware though, it is VERY spicy, but the server had warned her before she ordered it. Overall, our experience at Moxie's at Chinook was very satisfactory. We were there for less than an hour and afterward I was able to resume shopping with my wife with a full stomach."

"Nothing Fantastic"

May 2009 — "In search of a good place to have dinner before a movie, we ended up at the Moxies at Market Mall. We sat in the lounge section, which was quite noisy and didn't have particularly comfortable seating. However, we were hungry and there was no wait to get into the lounge. After browsing through the menu for a while I didn't see anything on the dinner menu that appealed to me. I was thankful the waitress let me order from the lunch menu even though it was the evening. I ordered the open faced Tuscan chicken sandwich and my boyfriend decided on the chicken tenders meal. I thought my sandwich was okay, but my boyfriend wasn't satisfied at all with his meal. The chicken tenders were dried out and looked no better than the chicken fingers you would find in the food court for less than half the price. Overall, I found Moxie's okay, but it is not a restaurant I would go to again. Their menu was too expensive and their food was nothing special."

"Great Experience!"

April 2009 — "When trying to think of a place to go somewhere in the NE for some appys and drinks, we decided to try Moxie's in the Sandman Hotel near the airport. We have been to this location several times but have found the parking and waiting situation to be somewhat annoying. We decided to grin and bear it on this particular Friday night because we were tired of the other options in the area. We were pleasantly surprised that there was absolutely no wait. In fact, we walked in and were basically seated within seconds. About three seconds later our server arrived to take our order. I was very thirsty and wanted a big beer. He told me that there was a special on and these massive 750ml Coronas and Heinekens were only $7 something. Good deal! When we decided to dine on a bunch of appetizers, since Moxie's make some delicious meal-sized items like Mosaic Dip, fingers etc, our server informed us about the appetizer platter. This included calamari, wings, fingers and avocado spring rolls and a bunch of dips. I really do not like calamari, so he gave us more spring rolls instead. When it arrived we saw how huge it was and although we were thinking of ordering full meals, I could not even think of eating anything else. Our overall experience was very good. The service was top-notch, the food was great and we were very happy not to have to wait! We'll definitely be back!"

"Loved it!"

March 2009 — "This is a really nice place to go if you want to impress your partner! My husband took me on a date to Moxie's and I just loved every thing about it. The food was great, both my husband and i order a pasta dish and we both wanted to lick our plates, but we didn't. The only thing was that the portions were not really big, so we had to order some dry ribs to fill the half empty stomachs of ours. They also have drink specials every day of the week, and we landed on Margarita night, we Moxie sized($2 extra to enlarge the drink) it and had our full. We also ended up having dessert, because the table across us ordered some and we just had to have some. We ordered their Blackberry Apple Crisp and it was like we were in heaven! It was really well made and tasted great! The Decor was wonderful and the place was spotless, it was a bit expensive, but it was worth every penny. "

"Not child friendly at all"

January 2009 — "I was at Moxie's downtown Calgary (just under the Sandman Hotel) on 7th Ave and 8th St SW for lunch the other day. I am currently on maternity leave and have a 5 month old son. I went to meet a friend for lunch on a weekday and found the place pretty empty. I asked for a table that could accommodate the stroller and they said I could not bring it in. Now, this stroller is one that does not take up much room (about the same amount of space as a high chair). My son, asleep in the stroller, had to be woken so that and we could sit at a table. He is too small for a chair, and cannot sit on his own. I questioned the staff as to what they would do with someone in a wheel chair and they said that they didn't know. Needless to say, this was the most inconvenient lunch I have ever had since having my baby. For a restaurant located under a hotel, it was odd how unprepared they were for a child. He could easily have slept quietly through the entire lunch had they simply allowed the stroller. The food was good. I had a steak salad and found it to be fresh and appetizing. The service was very slow and inattentive which was strange for not many customers. Would I go back? Not with my son and only if someone else was paying. I'm not interested in giving them any more business from me!"

"Great late night option!"

January 2009 — "While staying a hotel near the Calgary International Airport, we decided to get some take out food from the nearby Moxie’s. It was fairly late at night but we were happy that they would still prepare food for take out. The inside of this location was warm, inviting and classy looking. And the lounge side of the restaurant seemed filled with lots of patrons enjoying themselves. The server that helped us with our order was exceptionally friendly and answered all our questions. He also made sure we had extra condiments and cutlery. I ordered a serving of sweet potato fries and chicken tenders to share with my daughter. Both our meals were delicious and the prices were reasonable. I was only disappointed that the sweet potato fries came with only one dip even though the menu said there were two dips. We will eat at Moxie's again and hopefully next time I will get to try the other dip with my sweet potato fries. "

"Modern and Comfy!"

November 2008 — "This was my first time dining at the Moxie's at Market Mall since they renovated it. I was pleasantly surprised. It had a cool modern feel to it and the booth we sat at was very comfy and spacious. They had a varied menu selection and service was great. My only complaint was that the dining utensils and plates didn't seem very nice or clean. They were very spotty and I'm sure they've seen better days. Also, we requested some extra plates so we could share our appetizer and when we got them they were still wet. Perhaps, this would be a good time for them to get new plates and give there staff a refresher on dish washing and drying. Other than that it was great place for a casual meal with friends. "

February 2008 — "Moxie's is the exact definition of an average restaurant. The food is decent and the service is good enough not to complain, but there is definitely nothing amazing about this chain. "

"Pretty Average"

November 2007 — "No real complaints about Moxie's, but it's not a place to rave about either. The atmosphere is comfortable and warm, not fancy, and it's obvious people come here to relax and have fun (the group of middle-aged women sitting a couple of booths away from us were having a great time - their whooping laughter drowned out our conversation a few times and their unabashed flirting across the restaurant was well received by a couple of guys previously minding their own business). I was a little suspect of my chicken burger when it arrived: open-top, it looked like it had been waiting a while in the kitchen, but I really enjoyed it, it was tasty and warm, and again, nothing fancy. It came with gravy on the side, although I asked for ketchup, and deciding not to send our waiter back to the kitchen I discovered the gravy was alright (I think gravy's a bit hit-and-miss in restaurants). The menu on the whole is pretty standard - a decent range of appealing and filling dishes, nothing too exciting. So, if you feel like a relaxed, comfortable dining experience and a meal that will stretch the stomach, Moxie's is worth a try."

"It's alright..."

October 2007 — "I headed out to the Moxie's in the northeast for a quick bite, and it wasn't too bad. It was my first time going to a Moxie's. I liked the comfy booths, and the atmosphere was alright. I had a fried banana and ice cream dessert, which was really good, but I think that they need a little more variety in their dessert menu. The selection of after dinner drinks was also very limited. "

"A Big Improvement!"

June 2007 — "I have gone to Moxie's for several years, but was never overly impressed with their menu. However, twice in the past month I have gone to the Moxie's at Market Mall and have been pleasantly surprised. I actually think that all Moxies' were upgraded to a more contemporary menu and atmosphere, but as for the Market Mall location, I am thoroughly impressed by the renovated atmosphere and food. For a chain restaurant, their dishes are very good and there is a nice variety. On my two most recent visits I had the Coconut Curry Rice Bowl and the Beef Vindaloo. Both quite flavourful. I also tried the Avocado Spring Rolls last night and they, too, were tasty. Moxie's is not my favourite restaurant, but it's definitely much better than it used to be. You should check it out!"
