September 2009 — "A friend and I went to this restaurant in celebration of her birthday. We had never been there but it came highly recommended by the concierge at the hotel we were staying at. We were glad we went! We were not exactly sure what to order as we had not been to at Thai restaurant in quite some time. The waitress was very helpful in assisting us with what to order. We started with some Tom Yum soup that was very nice. It had a taste of lemon grass, which I enjoy. We then ordered Pad Thai, Ka Ree Kai (which was a curry chicken dish), a vegetable dish called Pug Tua and some coconut rice. It was all very delicious and flavourful. There was some spice to the dishes, but they were not overly hot. We ordered wine with our meal. When we asked to see a wine menu, we were then visited by a gentleman who worked there who was a wine expert. He assisted us with ordering some new wine based on what we preferred in a glass of wine. We ended up trying two new wines each. The atmosphere was very relaxed and clean. I definitely recommend this restaurant. "

May 2009 — "Until recently, this was my favourite place in Calgary for Thai food, though it looks like word got out and everyone else thinks so too, and its gone to management's head. After our most recent experience, we won't be back.
My husband and I made reservations for a quieter time in what is usually a very busy restaurant, thinking we'd have the advantage of good service and tasty food before the dinner rush. There was a large (very loud) group seated, only two people working the floor, and our table for two. We waited about 15 minutes without even a drink order. Then, a table for four walked in, said "Steve" had sent them, were seated beside us, served personally by the owner, wine explained and poured, and ordered while we continued to sit and wait, and wait. It was if we weren't even in the place, and yes, we made plenty of eye contact.
Ultimately, we waited nearly half an hour and decided to leave, since NO ONE had visited our table from the time we were seated to the time we got up to leave. A HUGE disappointment for a couple of moderately regular customers. I truly hope that the couple who arrived as we were leaving were treated better, as we made commentary about the slow service as we walked out.
Side note: prices have also increased significantly since we were last there, to the tune of $4-$5 per entree, which coincidentally, is $4-$5 more than other comparable Thai restaurants in the city."

January 2007 — "I came here the other week for lunch and it was delicious. They don't have a lunch buffet or anything, but if you come as a group you can each order a dish and share. The dish I ordered was Pad Thai and it was very flavourful. The atmosphere is traditionally Thai. The tables were quite spacious so even though it was busy, it didn't seem crowded. If you are going for lunch, I recommend making a reservation or going early, like at 11:30 to avoid the rush."

November 2006 — "This Thai place is awesome! I went with a group, half of who were vegetarians, so we got a variety of dishes and they were all fantastic. I would highly recommend it here, and I would also recommend making a reservation and going before or after the lunch rush. Service is a bit slow when it's busy but the food made up for it."

October 2006 — "I recently lunched at Thai Sa-on for the first time ever, and I must say I've been missing out!! It's only two blocks from my office, so I should have been going much more often. We ordered a tofu appetizer, which was amazing. I usually don't like tofu, but they deep-fried it and it was superb. As my main dish, I ordered the Panang Chicken Curry and it was so delicious. The flavours were out of this world. I also tried an almond chicken dish, which was very tasty as well. The service was good, despite the huge Friday lunch rush. I will definitely go back soon."

This modest looking restaurant is anything but modest when it comes to its dishes and service. An extensive menu featuring authentic ingredients and flavours easily makes it one of the best Thai restaurants in Calgary. Smoke-free.
