"Fresh Food!"

March 2012 — "I've been to the Market Mall food court location and find them to be friendly and efficient. The food tastes very fresh and delicious. I recommend their falafel wraps which taste great and are a nice change from all the other greasy fast food options in the food court. A great place to stop by and grab something to eat after a long day of shopping! I'll definitely go back and would recommend them to others."

"One of the Best Shawarma's in the CiTy"
Image

Save Review

February 2011 — "Coming from a person who is always in search of the best shawarma in the city, I must say this is top three. For me it's the garlic sauce that makes or breaks a good chicken shawarma. They also have really nice veggie ingredients to choose from including pink pickled turnip, parsley, and a creamy coleslaw which is different from most Lebanese restaurants. The chicken was tender and juicy with nice crispy edges from being cooked on the rotisserie for the perfect amount of time. They could have added a bit more chicken though. Most of these kinds of places have various sizes in shawarmas but this place only has one size. My wife is a vegetarian and she had the falafel pita which she quite enjoyed. I tried it and agreed that it was tasty falafel with nice spices. We shared a medium side of couscous which was extraordinary. It had what seemed to be pieces of dates, cinnamon, almonds, and beautiful aromatic spices. I tried a beef samosa and it was excellent. It was spicy but had a refreshing almost lemony flavour. They had other sides to choose from such as greek salad, tabouli, and dolmates. They also had many varieties of baklava but we didn't have a sweet tooth this day. The prices were quite reasonable as they don't have to pay that expensive downtown or 17th ave rental rate. The decor was relatively contemporary as I think it's young guys that own the place. The temperature inside was pretty cold though and I heard another customer even complain about it. Could have just been the time of day though. The young guy working was casually and helpful with how to fill up the pitas."

"Good food, No BS"

July 2010 — "Dropped in to grab falafel and tzatziki. No fluff involved- they gave me what I wanted for a great price. Things were cooked well, clean room, friendly staff and very attractive looking food. I am anxious to go back and try this place out for lunch someday. Parking is a bit awkward, but the patio looked very inviting and the menu selection looked very good. The place was bustling when I was there, so that is a good sign as well."

"Worth a try.."

October 2009 — "Cedars Deli is located just off of Edmonton Trail in northeast Calgary. Since it’s only minutes from my work, I decided to check it out for lunch on a Friday. When I walked in, the store had quite a long line up and all of the tables were filled with people. The little deli has a very clean look with an assortment of different Mediterranean food and appetizers you can get. I ordered a shawarma chicken wrap, which looked so good and fresh as I watched them put it together. The wrap wasn't bad at first with all the fresh ingredients and sauces at the top. It was a weird how the wrap actually tasted worst as I kept eating it. By the middle of the wrap, there was no sauce and the chicken was too dry to finish. I do give this place credit for the fresh use of ingredients but the chicken was too bland."

"I'd like to think they were having a bad day...."

September 2009 — "I decided to give this deli a try since it is very close to where I live. I was a bit surprised when I walked in to see how clean and nicely decorated it is. I had a bit of trouble reading the menu along the walls. They should increase the font size so it’s easier to read, especially when there's a long line up and the menus are scattered across 3 walls. I ended up getting a chicken shawarma wrap. The wrap itself was quite good and it had a lot of fresh tasty ingredients. My biggest complaint is the chicken itself, which was really dry. When they were putting together the wrap, they did dump out the last bit of chicken from a container into my wrap and then pulled out another fresh container for the person next to me, so that might have had something to do with it. I wasn’t able to finish the wrap because of how dry the chicken was but I think I’ll give the donairs a try before I decide to write this place off."

"The Best Donair in Town!"
Image

Save Review

July 2009 — ""The Best Donair in Town" is not a title to be thrown around lightly, but I have found a deserving candidate. Cedars Deli. Located on the corner of a small strip mall off Edmonton Trail, Cedar's Deli offers the absolute best in Mediterranean Dining. My favourite, as you may have guessed, is their Donair. A large helping of perfectly spiced Donair meat served in a Pita with your choice of toppings and either sweet or garlic sauce. You can also upgrade to a Super Donair for one dollar but be warned. It is huge! And should not be attempted by just any average eater. Cedars also offers a variety of delicious appetizers, the Baba Ganoush and Stuffed Vine Leaves are fantastic. And Cedars packages their products conveniently as they understand that finishing one of their donairs leaves you with little room for much else. The Diner itself is small but serves it's purpose, and the service is excellent. I always feel welcomed when I come back, and you will too so give it a try. "
