"All You Can Eat Sushi - good value"

April 2012 — "This place is an all you can eat sushi place. For an extra two dollars, you can add all you can eat hot pot. When we got there, it was extremely busy and the front area was packed. However, we were very lucky in that we just beat the rush and were able to sit down quite quickly. We sat down and started ordering right away. Unfortunately, between the four of us, none were very practical and we decided to go crazy with ordering. When it’s all you can eat, everyone gets a feeling that they should eat as much as they should. Food started arriving right away. The sushi was decent, it wasn’t the best, but then again, you can’t expect that at an all you can eat joint. The hot pot was decent as well. They gave lots of meat and noodles and salads etc. to dump into the pot. The lady was very kind in asking us if we were sure we wanted to order as much as we did as she saw us slow down considerably after the first half hour. As most places will charge you for uneaten food, we appreciated the thought and she was accurate with her suggestion to cut back on a few of the dishes. We’ve been pretty lucky with the few restaurants that we’ve tried out in finding some new places to try. I think the next time we’re in the mood for all you can eat, we will be here again. It is good for those that like sushi as well as those who like the hotpot food too. "

"All You Can Eat Sushi and Hotpot!"

April 2012 — "Sushi Ichiban is located on Macleod Trail fairly close to Chinook Mall in Calgary. Having heard that they serve All You Can Eat Sushi, we decided to give it a try. We were worried that we’d have a hard time getting a table since it was 7PM on a Saturday night. But surprisingly, we were seated right away. We got a great private booth that was great. The All You Can Eat sushi cost 24.99 per person and found that for $2 more, you could add the option of Shabu Shabu (Japanese Hot Pot) so we decided to add it on as well. It was a good choice and also a bad choice. Good choice because it was very good value, the give you lots of high quality beef and vegetables for the Shabu Shabu and the selection of Sushi was also very decent. The food arrived quickly and no orders were missing. We ordered so much food for the first round, that we we weren’t able to go back for Round 2. I think next time, I will opt out of the Shabu Shabu, simply because it was just way too much food to eat. The value was fantastic though, you can easily pay more than $25 per person anywhere else and still leave hungry. I would definitely come back again."

"Great Lunch specials!"

September 2011 — "I have been to Sushi ichiban numerous times. The fish is always fresh, and full of flavor. The service always %100 courteous, friendly, efficient, and thorough. I have gone for dinner a few times with my wife , btu always go frequently for their daily lunch special from 12-4pm daily. For $7.95 you get Miso soup, Salad, and your choice of 2 items. I usually go for the sushi, which is 3 pieces of sashimi with rice, a couple rolls and rice on the side. For my second side I order either Tempura veggies and prawns, or more sushi! Great deal, great food, great time! I have never once had a bad experience, and often enjoy their food. A great place to go with friends, great drinks specials one of the finest Sushi restaurants in Calgary. There are also quite few other items on the menu to entice if you are going with someone who isn't quite a fan of the raw. "

"Best and freshest Sushi around!"

October 2010 — "Sushi Ichiban is by far one of the best Sushi Restaurants in Calgary. There are two locations. One off of Mcleod Trail S, and my favorite just off of 37st in the Westbrook mall. -Right by Jubilation's dinner theater actually! I wouldn't recommend getting the All you can eat for $25.00 a person as it tends to be the bottom of the barrell sushi and meats. I have had the all you can eat twice and on both occasions I was servilely disappointed. If you stick to the lunch specials dinner specials or just order off the regular menu you are sure to expect fresh, AAA Sushi for sure! They also seem to have some very original rolls which I have not found anywhere else. It can be a little bit pricey depending on what you order, but the potions are filling and it really doesn't take much to fill you up. If you are having trouble with fussy eaters who don't really like Sushi, there are other things on their menu that can please a picky person. The service is great, and when ordering take out- they are fast and thorough and have never messed any of my many orders up. No reservations really needed, as both restaurants are big enough to seat the high demand on weekends. When I go for sushi I always go to Sushi Ichiban. No other place will do for me!"

"Pretty good"

March 2010 — "I went here for lunch with a friend and had a pretty enjoyable meal. It was a tad expensive, yes, but all together a good feed. We ordered one of the lunch specials for two, and it was quite honestly the perfect amount -- in fact, it was a bit too much and we even took some home. The sushi itself wasn't too much but they also gave us miso soup and tempura so it ended up being a lot of food. The service was excellent -- our server was really helpful when we were picking what to get, and she was always over checking to see if we were ok. The place maybe looks a bit outdated, but overall it's not bad -- it has all the typical Japanese restaurant fixings like the ninja-style curtains, the paper lamps and those weird cat statue things. It was pretty dead when we went, but it was a late lunch so I don't think that's any indication of their popularity. "

"A strong choice"

April 2008 — "I would highly recommend Ichiban for those all-you-can-eat enthusiasts out there. It is a very good quality sushi relative to other place in the city. It also has a very wide selection on the AYCE menu, including great cuts of Toro and other quality sushi. It would not compare in quality and artistry to a place such as "Globefish" but Globefish does not have the AYCE option. So amongst the AYCE places (of which I have been to all) I would say that Ichiban is likely the best one you can find. Some recommendations would be to try the ginger beef and ginger chicken. They have a very light tempura batter and a perfect sauce. As I said previously the quality of Toro at this location surpasses all other AYCE sushi in Calgary. It melts in your mouth. "
