March 2012 — "Old Spaghetti Factory in Eau Claire market is not my favorite. I hadnt tried it in years, probly since I was a kid in Edmonton. But, we were invited by some friends, they had some sort of special group deal so we tagged along. I was really disgusted with my food. I ordered the Carbonara, and found it extremely lifeless and bland. Everyone else agreed about their plate, that there was something missing. The cooks must have been not doing a good job or something. Either the meat was dry, or the food they make here is just plain boring. Service was average, our server didnt seem very expressive, fun, or personable. We didnt really enjoy our time here and will never go back. Dining is all about the experience and we love to go out often to enjoy ourselves as a couple. Everyone we went with agreed the food was poor , as was the service and that the atmosphere was a dull lifeless, played out 90's song. Very tired old place. News a new image, new menu, and renovations. "

"Good Lunch"

February 2012 — "I hadn't been to the Old Spaghetti Factory in almost twenty years when a coworker suggested it for lunch recently. I've worked in the downtown core for many years, and much of it was spent in the Eau Claire district but somehow I always overlooked this restaurant. The reason he suggested it for lunch was because he didn't think we would have a hard time getting a table during the lunch rush. He was right, so I guess I'm not the only person overlooking this place. Our server was with us right away and after a look at the expansive menu, I decided on the lunch-sized lasagna with salad. Bread was brought to the table right away and it was warm and fresh. Our entrees came out quickly and I was very pleased with the portion size of my lasagna. It was the perfect amount of food for lunch. The lasagna was hot and flavorful. Paired with a salad, it was very satisfying. The price is right, as well, for what you are getting. I will definitely not overlook the Spaghetti Factory next time I want a lunch out."

"Nice Restaurant"

February 2012 — "I really enjoyed my experience at the Old Spaghetti Factory. It was a busy Friday, so we had to wait 10 mins to be seated for lunch, but we were okay with that. They served us a fresh sourdough bread loaf with both regular and garlic butter. We ordered the lunch sized lasagna, and the pot pourri spaghetti, both also came with a salad. We liked our meals, and our server treated us to free coffee & ice cream at the end! I like how this restaurant is decorated, and the food is great - especially for the price."

"Multiple courses but lacking in authentic Italian cuisine"

August 2011 — "The Old Spaghetti Factory is near Eau Claire Market and a few streets away from the rush of downtown. We were quickly seated, and the entire restaurant appears to be very spacious. There were brick walls with stained glass windows and red pipes running along the ceiling. The tables and chairs reminded you of an old relative's home with wooden table sets and light fixtures with that vintage vibe. I ordered a main entree which came with either a soup or salad, your entree, bread with butter, ice cream, and coffee or tea. All of that for a little more than $10 which is amazing! I decided to order the french onion soup which was an additional $2.25, it was way too salty. I enjoyed the saltiness but after awhile, I could not finish my soup. It came with a layer of thick cheese and croutons mixed in which were still crunchy, I thought this was a nice touch, this hearty and heavy soup was a bit too much for me. The bread was warm and delicious and came with either garlic or plain butter. We ordered an appetizer of mussels, which were a lot smaller than expected and in the picture. However, it was very lemony and had a great taste, we quickly devoured the mussels. My entree was the Pot-pourri spaghetti with meat, clam and mushroom sauce. It was okay. I found that the pasta was a still watery and that there was a lot of liquid at the bottom of my dish. The clam sauce wasn't that flavourful and the best sauce was the meat sauce. Next time I would just get the meat sauce which was delicious and chunky with meat bits. However I did enjoy that whole mushrooms were in the mushroom sauce rather than chopped. We then had mint ice cream which was good and I had tea. I really enjoy that Old Spaghetti Factor gives an assortment of courses, but I hope that would be in addition to a great main dish. I really liked our server however when I asked the hostesses as we were leaving for a bag for my leftovers, I found them quite rude and that although I was a customer, I was bothering them despite no customers there that they had to greet. "Great meal on a budget!"

November 2010 — "The Old Spaghetti Factory is just a great place. Period. You order up your meal and you get everything included in the price! Warm bread with garlic butter, soup or salad, main course, and ice cream and coffee at the end! What a deal! I went with my boyfriend and we had a great time. The service was laid back and friendly and you got the feeling that the staff wanted to do everything they could to make your meal nice. I had the potpourri spaghetti which I would recommend to anyone who can't make up their mind! You get to try a little bit of 3 different sauces: Meat, mushroom and clam. The clam sauce is really good if you like seafood. They have a really cool ice cream for dessert. It is a blend of pistachio, vanilla and chocolate! If you want to go out for an inexpensive date or out for a meal with your family, The Old Spaghetti Factory is great value and a lot of fun. "

"Always a classic"

November 2010 — "Who doesn't like the Old Spaghetti Factory? I don't think I have ever had a bad experience there. My girlfriend and I went recently for dinner and we both really enjoyed the whole experience. The food was good, the service was above average for Calgary and the value was there, as always. I like the old feel to the restaurant, with all the "old fashioned" decorations and stained glass. The open concept is really nice too. It makes you feel like you are dining in one big dining room! I ordered the spaghetti with mushroom sauce. I love how you don't really have to order anything else! Everything is included! The bread they serve with your meal is so good. The salad to start was a bit heavy on the dressing but good. There was plenty of spaghetti and the sauce was rich and meaty. For dessert I had the spumoni ice cream. Can you even get that anywhere else? Our server was really friendly and very helpful. She definitely added to the satisfaction of our experience. The Old Spaghetti Factory is good for anyone really. It's great for a family, or a date! Great food, great service, great value. "

"Good Value"

March 2010 — "A bunch of friends and I ended up here after much debate over all the regular places we usually go to. It was a Friday night so the place was packed and the wait was long. We were inside waiting and were pleasantly surprised to be seated 20 minutes sooner than they had estimated. Looking at the menus was so pleasant as the prices seemed very reasonable. I ended up with the traditional spaghetti with meatballs in meat sauce. The price was approximately $13. Before we ate, they served us with complimentary sour dough with butter or garlic butter. It was delicious. When the spaghetti came, I have to say I was a bit disappointed in the flavor; or lack thereof. It seemed quite bland and very, very plain. It tasted like something I make home, and that’s not a compliment. The only saving grace is that the meal comes with complimentary scoop of ice cream and tea or coffee. While the main dish itself was not great, the overall experience and the ability to get a full meal for such a decent price were worth it. We’ll probably be back; I’ll just have to try a different dish next time. "
