April 2012 — "I enjoyed my Tortellini Brodo soup, albeit small, but it was only $4.99. It was beef tortellini in chicken broth with a sprinkled herb, which was maybe parsley. I got the option of ground pepper or shredded cheese upon serving, and I chose the cheese. I wish I had indulged in more cheese than the polite amount I limited myself to. It was a good addition. The soup was really comforting and delightfully tasty. I received a complimentary warm roll/bun. It was passable, but great dipped in soup."

"Good pasta. Great price."

March 2012 — "For anyone that is looking for good quality food to suit all tastes at an extremely reasonable price, I highly recommend you check out Chianti. It's great for a date or for family dinners. The regular menu is fairly priced, but they have a great deal on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday where any of their pastas are only $8. The menu during There is spaghetti, linguini, fettucini, tortellini, canneloni, lasagna etc. There are tons of different ones to choose from and tons of different sauces. All pasta is served with buns and butter as well. I had the spaghetti carbonara which was pasta, bacon and egg in a cream sauce. Sounds weird, but wow was it ever good. The servers are fast paced and friendly as it gets pretty busy in there! The servings are bigger than what you would expect for the price and they serve up your meal really quickly! Great place for dinner. "

"Decent food for the price"

March 2012 — "We went for the $7.99 pasta special at the Chianti in Willow Park. It's not my favorite location as I find the atmosphere to be a bit crowded, but the food was decent and the service was pretty good as well. I thought it would be hard to get a table but we were seated right away and received continuously good service throughout the whole meal. The ceasar salad was absolutely delicious! They must make their own homemade dressing. Only order this if you are a true garlic lover though. For my main, I had the Linguini Kitsilano, which was italian sauasage, green peppers and mushroom in a tomato sauce. The linguini was a bit overcooked and I found the sauce to be a bit bland. The portion was good though. All in all, I found the meal to be okay. I wouldn't order the Kitsilano again, but with so many options, I will definitely try the Willow Park Chianti again. "

January 2012 — "The pace of the restaurant is really slow. There isn't that many server on duty at the time of our visit. We ordered 3 pasta specials at $7.99 (it was one of their pasta days) and we found all pasta to be too heavy to finish. Good thing it was cheaper than other dishes. Our server was very kind to us. He was not around much but when he came over, he made sure we got what we wanted. "

"Go to Italian food!"

Save Review

August 2011 — "I decided to eat here with a friend during the weekday for lunch. It was fairly warm outside so we decided to eat on the patio rather than inside. The wooden patio was scattered with wicker chairs and red umbrellas. It overlooked the busy street of 32nd Avenue. Dishes of pasta ranged from $9-11 and meals with either chicken, veal or seafood were pricier but still a reasonable price. We were quickly seated and nice music played in the background. Our orders were taken and I decidedto order a half portion of spinach fettucini du chef which includes smoked salmon and mushrooms in this creamy sauce, half portions are $5.99 while the regular size was $10.95. I really like Chiantis and the ability to order half dishes, I find Italian restaurants and their dishes too large and make me feel bloated after finishing the dish. Our meals came out in the appropriate time to allow us to catch up and chat, and we were offered grated cheese and pepper on top of our pasta. My dish was very delicious and creamy with large pieces of salmon, which may be because of the half portion and that they could have halved the noodles but not the meat. Either way, I really appreciated it! The only thing that I can say was negative was that although it was a nice day, it was a bit windy and my pasta got cold before I could finish it!"

"Huge Assortment of Pasta!"

August 2011 — "Known for their scrumptios Italian pasta, my friend and I enjoyed Chianti's special on Sunday. Their pasta dinner is only $7.99 and this special goes til Tuesday. There is a huge assortment of pasta so it was difficult to choose as they all sounded so great on the menu. My friend recommended the the Al Pacifico Penne with sun dried tomatoes and salmon while he ordered the Supremo. Although my pasta fell short of expectations, the Supremo that my friend tried was delicious. My pasta, the Al Pacifico Penne was runny and seemed to have a base of water and olive oil on the bottom, maybe caused from not draining the pasta properly. My friend informed me that it was a lot runnier than when he had ordered it. Fortunately, our server was extremely kind and although busy, she smiled and was attentive to our table and dealt with the matters. I was pleased with the service, and ambiance but was a little unlucky with my pasta dish. "

July 2011 — "We went to the Chianti's in Willowpark for a family birthday because my parents love the place - they typically go for lunch and the servers knew them well. The prices are awesome. Sunday-Tuesday they have pastas for $7.99 - we went on a Saturday and my pasta (Fettuccine Supremo with scallops, smoked salmon, and creamy curry parmesan sauce) was still only $9.99 and I could only eat half of it before I was completely full. The service was incredibly quick and efficient but we never felt rushed. And the humour! It is rare to get a server with a great sense of humour, but all three people who ended up waiting on our table were very friendly and laughed...it was refreshing and fun. The place was packed and it is necessary to have a reservation. The washrooms are sparkling clean and there is a great patio for the few summer days we have in Calgary. I highly recommend this cafe!"

"Affordable Pasta, Loud Atmosphere"
Image

Save Review

July 2011 — "I have never been to the Chianti's in the south (Willow Brook), but for a recent family get-together that is the restaurant that was chosen. We had a table of eight, so had a reservation and were placed right in the centre of the restaurant. It was quite crowded, but we managed. The atmosphere was decent, with an Italian feel, but the restaurant is quite small. Despite the small size, the loudness of the restaurant was almost overbearing... I definitely couldn't hear anything the person on the other end of the table said. The menu is filled with many pasta dishes, but I chose to have plain ole spaghetti and meatballs. To start, we ordered some deep fried ravioli, which was served with a cream style dipping sauce. Both my pasta and the appetizer were pretty good. The service was also good, we never went without anything. The thing about Chianti's is it is a family restaurant with affordable prices. My pasta was just over $10, so all in all, it was a great place for a family dinner that didn't break the bank."

June 2011 — "The place was packed and the servers although scurrying about, managed to keep their humour and deliver quality service. Glancing around, I noticed that the restaurant featured some local art, something that always adds interest to the dining experience. I ordered Damone del Feast. The scallops arrived in a creamy curry sauce. They were absolutely delicious! The mango pieces were also very good. I loved them! Also included were carrots cooked to perfection, and some yummy breaded zucchini. The least enjoyable part of the meal was the potatoes. They were definitely not up to the quality of the other ingredients. They were a bit dry and the taste was just okay. Chianti offers wine for a very reasonable price. They have their own label, so I presume that they have someone bottle it for them. We ordered a litre of Rossi Italiano for only $24! This place has good value for the money! "

November 2010 — "My boyfriend and I went to Chianti's for their pasta special. It runs on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. At $7.99 per main course, it's a great way to enjoy dining out if you are on a budget. Keep in mind that it can get pretty busy during the evenings the special runs, but it is worth the wait and they are good with keeping up with the demand. The 17th Ave location has a great atmosphere, especially when it gets bustling! The lighting and decor is great for a date, a family dinner or a get together with friends! There are so many pasta choices to choose from and for the price, you can't go wrong. There are options with fettucine, linguini, tortellini, spaghetti etc., and the ingredients are varied enough that even a picky eater can find something they like. I had the Fettuccine Carciofe, which was spinach fettucine with chicken breast, artichokes, roasted red peppers and spinach with a basil cream sauce. It was amazing! And the portion was quite generous for the price! They also serve bread rolls and butter to start your meal which is a great way to round it off. If you don't have drinks, the bill for two comes to about $20 including a tip and I guarantee you leave full and satisfied! One of the best value restaurants in Calgary! "

November 2010 — "If you like really good, homemade pasta and you don't want to pay a lot for it, then Chianti's is the place for you. They have a pasta special on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday where you can order any of their regular pasta dishes on the menu for only $7.99. Great deal! I went with my girlfriend and was happy we didn't have to order an appetizer, because they serve hot buns and butter before serving your main meal! I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was basically spaghetti tossed with eggs, bacon and cream sauce. May sound strange, but I can't even begin to tell you how good it was! The portion was enough to fill me and the food was so good I would have been happy to pay full price! My girlfriend was really happy with her meal as well. The service was great, which was the icing on the cake. Our server only seemed to be around when we needed her, which was perfect. We had a wonderful dinner and didn't break the bank. I recommend Chianti's to anyone looking for good Italian food and a great dining experience! "

September 2010 — "I had not been to Chianti's in a while, so decided to try it out for their pasta frenzy lunch (held on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). Basically any pasta on their menu is $7.99, and the pasta is authentic and very delicious. Being on a one hour lunch, I was seated within 5 minutes, had a drink in the next 5 minutes, and was eating within 25 minutes since I first arrived there. I go back there at least once a month now for a weekday lunch. It is a great choice. "

"Chianti Cafe at Crowfoot is a Fun Place to Dine"
Image

Save Review

August 2010 — "Chianti at Crowfoot has the best patio in the summer - colourful flowers, great trellis' and cafe style chairs and tables makes it almost feel like an outdoor cafe in old Montreal. Quite an achievement in Calgary...splitting a bottle of wine with two friends, we each decided to try out pastas and a dessert. I chose the Marinara for $9.99, with clams, shrimp and cream sauce. It was a very nice blend and not too sweet with lots of perfectly cooked linguini. We chose a nice light Italian wine (Franese D'Abruzzo) for $18. We sat on the patio in the sun, amazed with how well the traffic sound were blocked out. If you want a treat and don't want to spend quite as much money, go to Chianti's on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday and you can choose any of their 40 pastas for only $7.99 - I think they call it Pasta Frenzy. Everything is clean - the only small complaint I have is the service has been a bit slow the last couple of times I've been there, and although it is fairly busy it has been surprising. "

"Not for a Classy Dinner"
Image

Save Review

July 2010 — "Crowfoot Location - A very casual Italian family restaurant with tables jam packed in a very narrow small space with almost no privacy. The restaurant was appropriately clean and had some Italian theme to it. The menu had tons of pasta to choose from and they easily accommodated my no olives request. There is complementary fresh bread served in a basket with a plate of oil and balsamic vinegar. We were there on a discounted pasta night which was an absolutely fantastic deal for the amount of pasta you get. It was very busy and loud due to the special. The parking was very crowded along a strip mall type set up. The service was appropriate and the pasta was served very quickly so I assume they had the noodles precooked. It was hot and tasted delicious. I would return to this restaurant for pasta nights but due to the small space, plain decorating and squished tables I would not go to this restaurant for a nice dinner out."

"Cheap Pasta Night, Great deal!"

January 2010 — "Chianti Café has an All Day Special every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. All Pastas on their menu are only $7.99 instead of upto $16 regularly which isn't bad to begin with. Their portions are pretty big. We usually have left overs to take home. They start you off with fresh bread with a unique mix of oil and vinegar. It really gets your appetite going. Their Calamari is also very good. With drinks and dessert, it's only around $20 per person. Hard to find anywhere else with prices like this that'll actually fill you up. With over 40 pastas to choose from, there's something for everyone's liking. They also have a party room that'll fit 20 people easily. Great for birthday parties or other occasions. You do have to get the a bit early though if you don't want to wait a long time especially on Sunday. The ambiance and service is great and for a great price. No complaints at all."

"Good Price!"

December 2009 — "I hadn't been to Chianti in years and had never been to the northeast location, so we decided to head out for some cheap pasta. Even though the pasta on a regular night is around $10, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday they have a special where pasta is just $7.99. We were greeted by the server very promptly and given a nice table in the corner. I was surprised at how cheap a bottle of wine was, so we ordered a Chianti for somewhere around $25. That night they had a special on ceaser salad - I think they were $2.75 each! We started with two salads and were presented with tasty bread with oil and vinegar for dipping. The salads were actually quite tasty. For my entree I ordered the chicken fettucine alfredo. It was pretty good. My wife had some tortellini dish and seemed to enjoy it too. When our server asked us if we wanted more bread I said yes, but he actually ended up forgetting. I didn't really mind, but when he realized he had screwed up, he comped our salads, which I found to be a nice gesture. The best part of the entire experience was that it cost under $50! Amazing value! I will definitely be back."

September 2009 — "I dropped by Chianti's on 32nd Avenue during lunch hour with a co-worker. The restaurant was surprisingly packed with people. We were served almost immediately and our waiter was pretty quick with telling us about the specials and getting our drinks and orders. In the past, I've often gone to the other two Chianti's in Calgary (17th Ave and Willow Park) and usually order off the linguini section, which are all very good. This time I decided to try something different for a change and got the Penne Al Pacifico. This dish is made with smoked salmon, sun dried tomatoes, onions, peas and olive oil. I made a big mistake in trying something new. This dish is weird and the mix of flavors are all wrong. I also ordered a starter spinach salad that was surprisingly very salty. The fresh warm bread that came with the meal was pretty good as usual. I think I just ordered the wrong dish. Overall, the restaurant has a great selection of different fresh pastas and sauces and is definitely worth checking out."

May 2009 — "This Italian restaurant has some very reasonable prices and really great pasta. The prices go down from Thursday to Sunday for an all day special. Before every meal, you are served with fresh oven baked bread with an olive oil / balsamic vinegar dip. It is really good for such a simple combination. I love piping hot fresh bread and this places gives you as much of it as you want. The pasta dishes are also really great. I’ve gone several times and I always ends up getting the same dish because I like it that much, its the Fettucine du Chef which is a green spinach based pasta with pesto sauce and chunks of smoked salmon in it. Simply delicious! And on top of that, since the portions are so big, I always have enough to bring home for tomorrow’s lunch. The service is good and you are generally always able to get a table whenever you go without a long wait, even on the Tues-Sun when its on sale. They also have gluten free dishes for those you want or require it. So I’d recommend giving it a try. For th extra hungry, you can supersize your meal for a small price as well."

May 2008 — "Chianti used to be at the top of my list for dinners out. For no particular reason I haven't been in ages until this past weekend when we stopped by for dinner. I could tell immediately that little had changed in my absence. The Willow Park location was packed but after only a few minutes wait we were seated. The tables are crammed together and except for a few inches we were practically sitting with the people beside us. Our server found us immediately and efficiently took our drink order and was back in a flash with wine and dinner orders. I selected the Linguini Pepperonata (Calamari, black olives, roasted red peppers and spinach in a creamy dill sauce) and my husband had the Linguini Marinara. Both dishes were excellent with good portions. For desert we had the chocolate raspberry mouse which was great as well. The basic atmosphere and abrupt service may not be for everyone but to me it feels authentic and conjures up fond memories of Italy. Best of all the price is right and they even have $7.99 pasta specials on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday."

May 2008 — "My boyfriend and I come to the Chianti's on Macleod every month, and I have never been dissapointed! If you have ever been to Italy, you will appreciate how this restaurant serves their food. It is simple yet classy, and always delicious. They don't add fancy things that aren't necessary for the dish, you just get what you order. The only thing that isn't really authentically Italian is the salad; in Italy, you get the salad without any dressing on it, and you get oil and vinegar to put on the salad yourself. Of course, this is not a very Western thing, so they serve house salad with simple Italian dressing, and a simple caesar salad. The food and drinks as well as the prices are great. The service has always been fantastic and friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone if they are looking for a nice night out"

March 2008 — "The Chianti's on 32nd avenue, is one of those places I go to only for lunch, and order the exact same thing everytime. The fettuccine supremo (which is fettuccini with curry, scallops, and smoked salmon). This time in particular, I was once again treated to a great portion of pasta at a really, reasonable price. Needless to say I was not disappointed. The curry was not spicy in the least, but still had lots of flavour, and their was a ton of salmon and scallops in the mix. The service was satisfactory, it wasn't like my party made our server work, but what we asked for we got promptly and that was that.
