December 2008 — "We have had many of Francos recommended specials and have never gone wrong. If we request a menu there was never a problem, and likewise the flavours are always authentic and consistent. "

"Great Food, Great Service"

September 2008 — "My wife and I actually were married at La Dolce Vita, and opted to go back for our first anniversary. She had Shells, I had Cannaloni.. We split a salad, desert (chocolate cake) The Sauces used were simply 2 of the best I have eaten. The Bechemel on the Canaloni was smooth, creamy and tasty - and the Meat sauce with it was light, blended well and very fresh. My wife was raving about her Shells she had, which had the same Bechemel with tomato sauce combo - but was spectacular. Overall, I had great service, great food, and was very happy with the experience.. A little pricey compare to some of the other italian places - but darn that sauce is great. Bravo. "

"Pretentious!!!"

August 2007 — "The staff were pretentious. Great place to eat if you don't have a mind of your own!!! and will just have the chef's choice of the day!! god forbid you ask for a menu!!! Saying that once we ordered the food from the menu - it was very nice - this was then spolit when we were given our bill before even being asked if we would like dessert! which we did!! and as a previous reviewer stated - not once were we asked if we enjoyed the meal - again just presumed!! All in all very disapointing and overpriced! "

"Dolce Dining"

June 2007 — "Walking around the Bridgeland area, we were looking for a place to eat dinner when we came across La Dolce Vita; it's exterior featured a decorative painting, brick and iron-work, and looked welcoming. We were greeted by a friendly host and were quickly seated and served complimentary bruschetta, bread and a wood-fire grilled flat bread. The bruschetta was very flavorful, dressed with a good quality olive oil. For dinner we had Angel Hair Puttanesca pasta, which featured capers, olives and a basil tomato sauce, full of robust flavors and was filling, without being heavy. The next dish was chicken alla Toscana, which included two chicken breasts that were grilled with Italian herbs and served with a house salad dressed with a light vinagrette. The chicken was very moist and had a refreshing, lemony taste. Overall, the meal was very enjoyable, but the items on the menu were a bit over-priced. The restaurant featured several classic Italian paintings and played Italian music which created a warm and pleasant ambiance. Compared to other Italian restaurants, La Dolce Vita could be classified as a higher end restaurant without too many Italian-cliches. Service was overall friendly, but we were not asked if our meals were okay and our beverages were not re-filled until the end of our meal. This would be a good place for an intimate dinner for two. "waste of time and money"

August 2006 — "Started good. Good bread and bruschetta. Then..had to wait 45 minutes for a soup to be served. About same amount of time to get my second drink. Minestrone had no pasta!! meat sauce fettucinni finally arrived and already had loads of parmesan cheese in it. I succesfully took two bites before giving up. My girlfriend was brave enough to take 4 or so bite. If you like salt, do yourself a favor and buy yourself a bag of chips...... We asked for the bill, left 8% tip(lucky them)and left. time wasted: over 2 hours.(2hours and half if we actually ate that salty pile of noodles) money wasted 64$ (and for that place, its cheap) would never go back there, even if its free"

"Great Italian cuisine"

July 2006 — "My husband and I first went to La Dolce Vita for my mother's 60th birthday. We were in the early stages of planning our wedding, and Mom suggested we check out the banquet rooms upstairs. The hostess noticed us coming down the stairs and asked if she could help. When we mentioned we were getting married, she smiled and said she'd talk to Franco. During appetizers (beef ravioli with truffle oil, as I recall), Franco came out of the kitchen, half-shook my father's arm off, and insisted that we meet with him afterwards to drink wine and plan a menu. The rest of the meal (which was delicious - one of those multi-course affairs where you don't realize how much you've eaten until you can barely muster the energy to get out of your chair at the end) passed, and after settling the bill, Franco met us at a table in a side office and hashed out a menu for twenty-six people within half an hour. After we went home, my husband said, "I think our wedding was just shanghai'd by an Italian chef." The wedding featured grilled sea bass, the same wonderful beef ravioli, and figs wrapped in prosciutto ham so thinly sliced it practically melted in one's mouth. There was also a great deal of wine, and the best tiramisu I've ever had for dessert. That was two years ago. We went back last July for our anniversary, and we'll definitely be going again this year as well. Fantastic food, great service, and fond memories."
