November 2011 — "While in Red Deer on a business trip, a friend of mine took me to his new favourite lunch destination, Cork'd. Located in a strip mall just off of Gaetz, Cork'd modest signage does not at all give justice to the great ambiance and decor found inside. Real work has been done in designing this pub. There's multiple seating options, and enough tv-screens to be able to catch the game from any location. For lunch our group started with an order of "woodchips poutine" (lattice potato poutine) while I tried out the Montreal smoked meat sandwich with fries. The woodchips poutine was a valiant attempt at adding a new spin to the classic, but was ultimately a greasy, salty mess. The smoked meat sandwich on the other hand was well put together, with an ample amount of decent meat between buttered-up marble rye. I should point out that based on my friends reactions to their meals, the standard Cork'd burger is probably the way to go on your first trip here. If you're in the area, I'd definitely give Cork'd a try."
