June 2011 — "The restaurant itself is quite nice - tablecloths, little candles on the tables - comfortable, casual but with a bit of class. We were, for the most part, the only people in the restaurant and the service was only just okay. It surprised us that we had to wait so long for our order to be taken, although our server was friendly enough. I chose the medium bowl of spicy chicken satay soup, along with green tea. The soup was $8.75 and I have to say that it was a pretty small bowl without many noodles. The chicken was cooked nicely but I found I had to add spice to the apparently spicy broth. I'm not sure - maybe they tend towards less spice but I was a bit disappointed. The restaurant is located in Shawville Station (I think that is what it is called) and it's quite small. The selection on the menu was standard Vietnamese fare, and the one other customer that was there at the beginning was raving about his food (some type of vermicelli dish) so maybe just not a good experience this time. My husband enjoyed his food, the washrooms and restaurant were quite clean and the owners seemed very nice. I would try again."

June 2011 — "The Mimosa Restaurant is located in the deep south of Calgary in a mini mall on Shawville Blvd.. What immediately struck me about this little place is that it appeared more upscale than the majority of Vietnamese restaurants I have visited. Prices were very reasonable though. My spicy beef noodle soup was about $9. I enjoyed the flavour of the soup but I was disappointed in the amount of noodles. There were significantly less than most Vietnamese noodle soups I have had. As a result, I felt hungry a couple of hours later. It did have some nice chunks of beef though. The menu at Mimosa was quite varied. There were several appetizers offered. ranging from deep fried spring rolls for about $5 to pieces of grilled ground shrimp for about $7. The menu also offered Rice Vermicelli dishes for under $10 and some special dishes like Chicken Curry and Lemon Grass Chicken. These "special" dishes were about $12 each. I was only moderately impressed with my meal, but the ambiance and service were both very good, and perhaps some of the other dishes would have pleased me more. "
