June 2011 — "My lady friends and I decided to pop into Sociale for drinks after work one night to celebrate our friend's birthday early. The place looked awesome as we walked in -- very modern vintage. It was strange though that we got sent into the abyss of the basement where things were much slower paced and very cold! Our server took forever to take our order and it only got worse as our evening progressed. As our server decided to take one person's order at a time and come back with the item and then take the next person's order we never had any of our drinks or food at the same time it was quite awkward. The menu consisted of some different pairings out of the norm which is usually okay but some of us had difficulties understanding what we would be getting when we ordered certain items and our server wasn't overly confident of what any of them were either. My first martini, the pink lady, was alright but not at all worth the $12 price tag. The butternut squash soup was delicious however for $8 a roll or some kind of bread to dip in would have been nice. I was definitely still itching for something to eat after the small portioned soup so I got a naan butter chicken flatbread that was good but very cold when it arrived. When it came time to paying I asked if I could use debit and the server kind of sighed and said "yeah we can take debit but there is an ATM near the washroom" so blankly looking at her and waiting for her to take my debit card I got up to withdrawal cash, at a $2.95 fee. Very unimpressed with the way this place functions!! "
