May 2012 — "Located in the Calgary Farmer's market is a restaurant called Big D's Smokehouse. I love BBQ types of food and was persuaded by a colleague to give it a try. The line up at lunch hour was decent and slow moving. When I eventually got to place my order, I decided to add some variety by having the half Beef Brisket and half pulled pork sandwich on multi-grain bread. I was really looking forward to eating this. I would say that that I preferred the pulled pork side over the beef brisket. But naturally, pulled pork is one of my favorites. They had different types of BBQ sauce to add to your meat as you desired. I tried the mild BBQ sauce. I also ordered a side of a large beef rib. The Beef rib was okay by my standards. Yes it was large, but I've had better. At aprox. $10 for the regular sized sandwich and $3.00 for the Rib, I would say that it was slightly overpriced. Not a bad lunch, but not the best BBQ place I've ever been too."

June 2011 — "There is nothing better than a smokehouse that makes bbq chicken, beef brisket, and pulled pork if you're willing to wait in line. I ordered the "Big Daddy" which is the large pulled pork sandwich which comes with a whopping 250 grams of pulled pork. I paid extra for cheddar but also added some great free toppings. You can choose from lettuce, tomato, hot peppers, spicy coleslaw, regular coleslaw, olives, etc. Then there was a choice of homemade sauces including horseradish, milked bbq, hot bbq, etc. My only criticism was that the pulled pork seemed to be pulled too soon and sitting for too long making it lose some juiciness. It was nothing that some extra sauce couldn't take care of though. The lady serving me was a character. She was robust and sarcastic, just like I expect a bbq place to have.....a comfortable atmosphere. I love that you can see the huge smoker doing it's thing and creating a backyard grilling smell."
