March 2011 — "Located on 4th Street SW where the old Nellies was originally housed, I stopped by the new Mission Diner for lunch not too long ago. I came here with a couple friends and between the three of us, we got a very clear idea of what the cooks here do well, and what they may need to take a step back and retool. I ordered a bowl of homemade chili complete with salad and freshly baked corn bread. The chili, was slightly above par, although in some instances it too closely resembled a hearty marinara. The cornbread was a fantastic side item to dip the chili with and the side salad was fine. While I ordered a true lunch, my friends opted for breakfast items. Long story short, the sausage and eggs looked very, very poorly done, while a freshly made waffle hot off the grill made my mouth water. Judging from my friends reaction the waffle tasted as good as it looked. The service was prompt which was appreciated, considering we ordered during a lunch break, and our coffee cups never ran empty."
