April 2011 — "Malcolm's is a long established restaurant in the heart of downtown Calgary on the corner of 5th Ave and 1st Street SW. Being located in the heart of downtown Calgary also means it is busiest during the lunch hours when flocks of office works from the neighboring towers gather here for a quick bite. It is quite a spacious restaurant which offers plenty of booth as well as table seating but be sure to call in advance to make a reservation just to be sure. The food at this place seems to be on par with the plethora of other grills and bars downtown catering to the working crowd, although the decor does seem to be a little dated. It is a comfortable place but not a place to impress potential clients. Menu selection is wide and varied. The turkey sandwich I had was quite good and the salad portions are also generous. "

March 2011 — "I met my girlfriend and some friends at Malcolm's downtown for lunch and a green beer on St. Paddy's day. It was pretty busy but the service was still decent anyways. The beer was okay...I have never really been a fan of the whole green beer thing. It was pretty dark in Malcolm's but had a good, friendly pub atmosphere. I ordered the lasagna which came with a piece of garlic bread. It was really meaty and flavorful. Sometimes lasagna at pubs can be pretty tasteless, so it's not something I usually order. I'm glad I did though! I should have probably ordered a side caesar or something because the lasagna itself didn't quite fill me up. The washrooms were pretty clean and we had a really good time. Malcolm's is a great place to grab a quick lunch or to hang out for a few drinks. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. "

March 2011 — "Malcolm's is a staple for the corporate crowd downtown for lunch and also for afterwork drinks. I have been a few times and have never been overly impressed, but not disappointed enough to keep from returning! They have a pretty classic pub menu, serving pizza, salads, burgers, sandwiches etc. The atmosphere of Malcolm's reminds me of a legion or something.....the chairs and tables are pretty dumpy and it's pretty dark and almost a bit seedy feeling. The food is generally pretty good though and the service is decent as well, as the staff are used to working the downtown lunch rush. On this visit I had the steak sandwich with fries. The fries were awesome and the sandwich was too! It was cooked just as I asked. The steak was moist and was a pretty decent size. However, at $17, I really can't say it was worth the price. But of course, since it's Malcolm's, I'm sure I will be back. We all will. "

Located downtown, this casual eatery features a pub-style menu and full bar services. A seasonal patio and local brews on tap are added highlights.
