February 2011 — "While in Edmonton not too long ago, I was looking for a quick bite and place to watch the hockey game and ended up trying the lounge at the hotel I was staying at. The Monkey Cage Lounge (inside the Best Western Westwood Inn) has quite possibly the most outrageous name for such a quiet and old school, hotel pub. The Monkey Cage Lounge appears to have the same decor it had when the hotel first opened. The walls are adorned with Oilers and Wayne Gretzky memorabilia, while the bar itself is composed of more wood than a log cabin. I tried out the fish and chips to go along with a pint of grasshopper. The meal was deep fried to perfection, and while I doubt any part of it was prepared in house, it was an adequate meal for the price. Our server was a little too eager to serve, which was fine, as it meant out food and drinks were delivered in record times. I attribute this to the fact my friends and I were one of only two groups in the whole lounge. If this place was even a bit more lively it really could be a fun time, unfortunately I can't imagine that really happening."
