February 2012 — "I was driving along 17th AVE SW one weekend afternoon when we became hungry so started to look out for places to have lunch. Kaynes caught our eye so we decided to give it a try. The exterior of the restaurant looked fairly unassuming, so we weren’t sure what to expect. When we entered, I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it looked. Everything was very new and modern looking with a lot of LCD TV’s everywhere, I could imagine that this would be a great place to catch the game. We were only among 4-5 other tables in the big restaurant, so we got pretty fast service as a result. The waitress was very nice and pleasant. The menu had all your traditional bar type food, which was great since I was in the mood for that. I ordered the Steak Sandwich and an order of the smashed potato dip. Both items were very good, the steak sandwich was served on a toasted baguette and was sliced into thin strips, it was perfectly cooked. I have to say it was probably one of the best steak sandwiches ive eaten in a restaurant. The smashed potato dip was also top notch. This is a must try if you are in the area. Unfortunately, I don’t live close to here, but if I did, it would make this one of my regular spots. Excellent experience and reasonable prices. Steak sandwich was was 14.99 and the smash potatoe dip was 10.99"

April 2011 — "Kaynes is one of Calgary's best kept secrets. It is a sports grill and pub located on the far west side of 17th Ave SW, far from all the noise and crowds of the Red Mile. It is far and away one of the top places in Calgary to catch a game with friends. My friends and I originally stumbled upon this pub after looking up and down 17th Ave for a place to catch a game but all were full during the playoffs. We drove far down 17th Ave almost to Westhills Mall and noticed this little pub. To our surprise this place has some of the biggest and brightest flat screen TV to all the catch games. There's a big flat screen everywhere you look and the atmopshere is far more relaxed than the noisy streets of the Red Mile. The food is also adequately priced and the service was fast and friendly. There is also an area for pool and a large patio. One of the best pubs in town."

December 2010 — "A friend and I had recently heard of a promotion at this place. We decided to give this place a try. This is a sports pub that fortunately for us, was very slow on a weekday afternoon. We picked a booth and quickly browsed the menu. We settled on a cheesey appetizer with some bread wedges. It tasted amazing, probably not the best for my arteries though. After finishing that, I ate my BBQ chicken pizza. It was really good; just the right tinge of sweet in the BBQ sauce and very enjoyable. My friend really enjoyed his steak sandwich and after having a bite of it, so did I. Often, steak sandwiches are really rough and chewy but this one was soft and excellent. I wish it were closer to us or else we would be there all the time. If we are ever in the neighbourhood again, we will definitely find our way back!"
