May 2012 — "Unlike many of the Irish pubs, this one actually looks like an Irish pub inside -- well, a fancy one anyway. It has ornate and classic decor that looks straight out of Europe and really classes up the joint. It's also quite a large place with lots of hidden rooms and booths to enjoy a cold one in. The pub also has a great vibe from the times I've been there. There's lots of revelry and good cheer and friendly people. A few of the waitresses were a little surly but we mainly went up to the bar and the bar tenders were quite pleasant. They have a terrific selection of beers, including a few that are hard to find elsewhere in Calgary. The food selection isn't as impressive, however -- just the regular pub favourites, nothing of note. The prices are on the high side, but still reasonable as this is quite a nice place. "

"Best Food Specials at a pub "

October 2011 — "I really like Donegals Pub in Westbrook. It was sold by the previous owner, and turned into a pub with extensive reno's inside. Decorated like a british pub, its nice inside. There are no pool table here which is really a bit of a bummer. It is quite big enough inside to have a pool table or two, but for some reason they have chose more seating instead of a pool table. I find that many pubs in Calgary have been actually removing the pool tables to put in adequate seating. My wife enjoys the great variety of beers on tap here. I go for the food. On Thursdays they have their steak sandwich on special which is one of the best steak sandwiches I have ever had hands down. And you cant beat the price. The pub is extremely clean, and the service is always on top of things. The fish and chips has also been another one of my faves. During the winter months, they have a real fire burning, and generous, Christmas and holiday drinks galore!! Enjoy Responsibly. "

"Delicious and quiet!!"

August 2011 — "Who knew relaxing on the patio at a pub on a Sunday afternoon would actually be relaxing?! I chose to Donegal's with a couple of friends partially to avoid the chaos that was Marda Gras in Marda Loop that day. When we arrived the place was very quiet and we esentially had the patio to ourselves. We weren't overly starving so we decided to get a few things to nibble on which included nachos, their battered pickle and some soup. All of the above were delicious! I always imagined myself cringing at the sight of a battered pickle and especially not reacting well once I bit into it, needless to say all of those anticipated reactions did not occur. Not only did their pickles look great but they tasted amazing! They come with a pretty poignant dip that I didn't love but if you ask for ranch they are even tastier dipped in ranch! My soup, muligatawny or something like that was also amazing -- I could argue one of the best soups I have ever had. If you are looking for a nice light dessert however, don't get the mud pie -- the piece is huge! The mud pie was great, homemade and very well presented/tasting but waaayyy too large! "

"Best Pub Food Specials in town! "

October 2010 — "Donegal in a great lil pub with amazing food and specials. Although the after supper crowd can be a little bit rowdy when watching Ufc or hockey games! Its probably not the best place to be if looking for a quiet retreat for a beer and some grub. Wednesday night is my favorite. 9 cent wings and ribs galore. My husband and I went to check it out one night out of blue as it is very close walking distance to our home. Our Waitress was cheery, and helpfully explained all drink specials and food specials and what she thought would be best for what we were looking for. She was right on que all night. We stayed, although there were some people near by bothering us with their drunken slander and inappropriate gestures towards me. We had a great time, eating our greasy pub wings n ribs n fries, sloshing it all back with beer. They do have quite a few beers on tap for to beer connoisseur! So go! Take a night out to the pub you wont be let down! "

"Great place for good eats!"

October 2010 — "Donegal's is great. Bottom line. The servers are friendly, the decor is classy, and best of all, the food is AWESOME. I went for lunch recently with my girlfriend. I ordered the french onion soup to start, which is almost always disappointing out in restaurants. However, I am pleased to report that it was really, really good at Donegal's. There was tons of cheese, the onions were soft and delicious and the broth tasted very homemade! My girlfriend couldn't keep her paws off it! For my main dish I had the Shepherd's pie. It wasn't quite as good, although not bad. It was a bit lacking in flavor. We only had water, but they have a great selection of beers on tap. The price range is pretty typical. It was a really nice place to hang out and relax on a lazy Saturday afternoon. I would recommend Donegal's any day although I would say their food specialty lies more in the sandwiches and burgers. "BEST pub burger EVER! "

October 2010 — "My boyfriend and I went to Donegal's on a Saturday afternoon. I have been before and remembered the food to be above average at a really good price. We were told to seat ourselves upon arrival and we chose a table near the back of the bar. The decor is traditional Irish pub decor....with dark wood and Irish bar decals. It's actually quite nice. I can't comment on the beer as I chose to have only water, but they did have 12oz chalices of Stella on special for $4.99. Good deal! For my meal, I chose to have the loaded pub burger, and honestly, I think it may have been one of the best burgers I have ever had! It was so huge I could hardly hold it! It was one beef patty packed with bacon, mushrooms, caramelized onions, pickle, lettuce, tomato, cheese and condiments. WOW! The fries were nice and crisp as well. Our server was friendly although a bit slow. I definitely recommend Donegal's if you are in search of excellent pub food at a great price served in a traditional Irish pub atmosphere! YUM! "
