August 2010 — "I've been to the Wild Rose a few times, located close to the Farmer's Market in Garrison SW. It's a fun place to meet friends and the beer is terrific. Most of the time I eat their appetizers because they are so interesting and sufficient for a quick meet, such as Phyllo Wrapped Brie, Chips and Three Dips (featuring their Alberta Stout) and my favorite, Pistachio Crusted Baked Goat Cheese! This time, I chose to have more of a meal and went with the Salmon Gravlax, which they describe as cured in Velvet fog and dill. What I didn't understand is that Gravlax is not the same as Lox - Gravlax is raw salmon cured in salt and sugar and dill...lots of lots of salmon was piled on top of a bagel with onions, cream cheese, capers and a great side salad of potatoes. I couldn't complain about the quantity as there was much more than I could have ever consumed. I just didn't like raw salmon. So really, it was all about me and my choice, not the restaurant. If you like Gravlax, I suspect you would like this. Me? I'll stick with Lox I think. The service is always wonderful, the ambience fun (you can see the place they create their unique beers in the back) and the staff is always friendly. Highly recommended - just don't eat Gravlax if you don't like raw salmon."

August 2010 — "The Wild Rose Brewery is located near Mount Royal University. It is tucked away near the Farmer's Market. The main building looks like the big workshops one sees on farms and acreages. In warmer weather they open up the doors and expand into the outdoors. The view isn't much. In fact it feels like you are in a parking lot without the cars. On a nice day though, the blue sky and sun easily makes up for the lack of other things to look at. They have an interesting menu and of course, several kinds of beers are available. You can choose from Wred Wheat, Brown Ale, India Pale Ale, an unfiltered beer called Velvet Fog, Stout and other varieties. I enjoyed my Wred Wheat. They server was very amiable and ready and willing to answer any questions. I ordered Chili With Beans and found it to be very good. It was spiced about right for my tastes. It cost about $10. I would return to this place. "

With their beer produced on site, visitors can take a tour or sit back and relax in the tap room and sample a few brews. Velvet Fog, Alberta Crude Oatmeal Stout, Wraspberry and Wred Wheat Ale are just a few of the microbrews available. They are open from 11am daily and a food menu is also offered.
