November 2010 — "We ended up here for a friend’s birthday not too long ago. The place looked just like any other lounge, trendy and all that, or trying anyway. Not saying it wasn’t, it just, seemed very familiar and done before. Our group was quite large so the service was not that great. I felt bad for the server but I was annoyed that it fell on a friend’s shoulders to try and sort the bill among the various groups instead of her. The menu itself was pretty standard, with very decent prices. We had already had dinner so we ordered an appetizer to munch on. The calamari was quite good. Again, nothing extraordinary, although I do have a weakness for pub food. I think this place would be a lot better during the day where I could focus on the food. Unfortunately, it was hard to find parking so I don’t think we’ll go out of our way to come back."

November 2010 — "Places like Firewater seem to be a dime a dozen here in Calgary. It’s yet another in a long line of general semi-upscale lounge/restaurants in the Earls/Joeys Tomatoes/Moxies vein. I came here for a friends birthday a couple of days ago, and was amazed at how boring the place is.
The menu is fairly small compared to other like-minded restaurants, and as such I had a hard time deciding what to order. In the end I went for a fairly safe 10-inch Greek pizza. It was no better than a slice of pizza served at a whole-in-the-wall pizza-joint. In all fairness, the prime rib I saw other patrons ordering looked much more appetizing. I probably would have ordered it, if our server had mentioned it was the special for the evening.
Which brings me to the service. I felt bad for our server as during the evening it appeared as though, most of her time was spent taking orders from the restaurant’s management instead of spending time waiting on her tables. When she did make her rounds, service was prompt and friendly.

July 2010 — "This was my first time going to this pub and I really liked it. The atmosphere inside is very nice and newly renovated. However, with the nice weather we choose to eat on the patio. The patio could have used a little renovation as well, as you feel like you sitting inside a giant cement box, but it let the sun in so it was ok. The service was great and they even bring out a mini sample of the chefs special appetizer to the table. The menu was quite elaborate for a pub, and the prizes were cheap. I got a Philly cheese sandwich with soup and it was $8.95 regular price. When the food came out there was no disappointment either. It cam of a freshly made baguette style roll and was very hot and delicious. I would definitely recommended for a Friday business lunch or a after hour dinner."

Billed as an urban pub and lounge, Firewater caters to corporate Calgary with an upscale but casual environment. Highlights include daily lunches, after-work happy hour, and weekend entertainment with resident DJs and plenty of dancing. Major sporting events are also shown here on 50" HDTVs throughout.
