March 2010 — "Calgary Dining week led me to the Exchange Lounge at the Marriott Hotel. Finding parking on the weekday was a task in itself. I wish the entrance to the restaurant was a lot more explicit and you didn’t have to loop around to the front entrance of the hotel, which was sort of an inconvenience. I believe only key holders for the hotel could enter the side doors of the restaurant, which was a little weird for me, but can be overlooked. The dine out menu consisted of a three course meal of my choice – black tiger shrimp and deep sea scallop galantine watercress foam and pomegranate gastrique, the grilled black angus flat iron steak, and the crème brulee. The appetizer wasn’t really anything I could boast about, but I thought the meat was cooked very nicely. The seafood was a little colder and saltier than suited my tastebuds. I was very satisfied with my dish and happy that they did not overcook it. It’s always interesting to see the reaction of the servers when I tell them I can’t have berries for dessert. The exchange lounge did a pretty good job of working around my allergies, but not so good with the final course itself. Everything ended up tasting the same in my mouth. The crème brulee was not my favorite and I don’t think this restaurant makes it on my top 10 either, but it was worth a shot. "
