October 2010 — "When aimlessly looking for a place to eat before going to a comedy show, we happened upon Kefi Greekhouse & Ouzo Bar, which is located on Macleod Trail where the Santa Fe Grill used to be. I was surprised to see how different the interior looked. They have opened it up and painted it white and made it have a more of a Greek feel, in fact, I commented to my wife that it resembled some of the resort restaurants that you would find in Cuba or Mexico.
We were greeted right away and the place was pretty packed for around 6pm on a Friday night. Our server was young and eager and he told us all about the specials. He also said that in the evening there is Greek dancing and the bartenders do back flips etc, which would be fun to see, but we were there too early. He also told us that we could order Greek-style plates which is where you can order a bunch of things and share them, but we decided to split a large Greek salad to start and then order each a main dish. The salad was very fresh and just had a light olive oil type dressing on it. It tasted good and healthy with some nice chunks of feta on it. For my main I ordered a lamb dish that was called something like Bandit's Lamb Kleftiko, which consisted of lamb, baby potatoes, string beans, carrots etc all cooked together like a stew in a parchment paper pouch and served like that too. I have to say it was the best lamb I have had in years, it was so tender and tasty and all the vegetables were cooked perfectly. I was very impressed with my dish. My wife ordered the stuffed chicken breast and she said it was quite dry and wasn't overly impressed with it.
Overall our experience was really good. The service was awesome and the atmosphere was fun and as far as my dish goes, it was delicious! I will likely go back sometime soon. It is important to note that it was a bit pricey, entrees ranged from $23 to $30. We were in and out in an hour and with one beer, a water, a salad and two entrees we spent $80 w/o a tip."

May 2010 — "To celebrate my birthday, three couples visited this Greek restaurant located in South Calgary based on the recommendation of one of the couples. The restaurant itself is lovely and bright and I was told used to be the Sante Fe Grill restaurant. The chandeliers were beautiful. We each brought our own bottle of wine for a steep corkage fee of $20 each bottle, not exactly like the bring your own wine restaurants that I am used to in Montreal, but better to have your favourite wine with the corkage fee rather than what they have on offer for about the same price. We ordered the Greek meatballs and although they were not called Keftedes as we are used to, we thought they might be similar. They were not and were served topped with a tangy tomato sauce. Not really to our liking. As well, I had made the mistake of ordering a Bifteka which was basically the same thing as the appetizer meatballs just in a bigger form. It was supposed to be stuffed with cheese, but I was hard pressed to find any, even right in the middle. We also ordered Calamari that was over-cooked and rubbery. My spouse ordered a peppered steak with was covered with lots of vegetables in a sauce and was served with greek potatoes that were hard, not what he was expecting. Service was very good and the company was the best, but the food was very disappointing and over priced in my opinion. None of our party of six enjoyed their meal, even the couple who had recommended it in the first place. On a positive note, the Greek dancing was awesome to watch. We will not return."

Kefi Greekhouse & Ouzo Bar offers a lively atmosphere and a menu that encourages diners to eat "Greek-style," where a variety of dishes are brought to the table and shared. On some evenings live entertainment is offered. The menu features traditional Greek fare including whole spit-fire lamb, stuffed grape leaves, kabobs, rice pilaf, calamari and more.
