October 2011 — "We simply love Indian food. It is one of our favorites, and whenever we get a chance to try a new Indian restaurant we jump on it! My wife has been so inspired and loves Indian food so much that she has mastered a few of the dishes. We are always trying to find the best Butter Chicken in Calgary and their have been a few in the top 3. We recently tried Green Chili again. On Bow trail. Last time we went, was at the 17th Ave SW location. There really wasn't very many people at the buffet, and the food seemed old and bland. So we decided to give this location a shot. We were really impressed with the buffet, and the butter chicken was very good. The sauce sweet and creamy how a good butter chicken should be and the chicken slow cooked to soft, tender perfection. Its a serve yourself buffet, they owners are older Indian people, very nice and can cook up some mean curry dishes! We really enjoyed and will be returning again! "

"Great Butter Chicken!"

March 2011 — "I recently went to Green Chili for their Lunch buffet after driving and walking past it soo many times over the past couple years. Green Chili restaurants are popping up all over the city, and their reputation for amazing Indian food continues to grow. The restaurant inside on Bow Trail SW, has a very out of this world feeling. Like you have stepped into another country. It smells exotic, and lures you in. The food items in the buffet are full of spice and intrigue the senses. My favorite item at the buffet is Butter Chicken. With Naan bread to dip into the creamy sauce. Best served with a side of rice, plain or curried. They use alot of curry's and spices so if you don't like spices like that then I wouldn't recommend this kind of food to you. Well put together, reasonably priced. Worth it! Go in today!! "

"Best Indian Buffet!!"

March 2011 — "My mother and I were looking for a nice place to go for lunch. I had heard a lot about Green Chile and how wonderful their Lunch buffet was. I believe the location on Bow trail SW only has a Lunch buffet, but they also are open for dinner (just not a buffet sadly enough) So me and my mother decided to go! Honestly there was none there on this particular day, but the food was still fresh and very good. My favorite dish is the butter Chicken with the naan bread to dip into the creamy sauce! Also, they have amazing samosas, and rice pudding which they are known for!! If you don't like curry and heavy spices I wouldn't recommend this restaurant or any indian food as they use very heavy spices through all their food, even the rice. All and all it was one of the best Indian Buffet's I have ever been too. Free for kids 3 and under, and $11/ pp for all you can eat! I haven't tried any of the other locations throughout Calgary but would assume they are all good!! "

"Very Nice Spice"

February 2011 — "The Green Chile in Crowfoot Mall was highly recommended to me by a few friends - it is a very small little restaurant tucked away in an outdoor mall and I didn't even know it was there. There are a dozen or so tables and a buffet which apparently is open for lunch/brunch. We were the only customers at 5 pm and the server was very attentive. The menu spanned the normal array of Indian appies, entrees and desserts, although I think there was a greater selection of vegetarian dishes than I've seen in some of the other restaurants. Their wine list is also quite extensive and the house wines (Copper Moon - 6 oz for about $6) is pretty good. I chose a very mild creamy vegetable mixture (Navratan Korma) with a cashew based sauce, alog with a spicy chicken dish (Chicken Tikka Masala) - apparently a house special. The cost of the food totaled under $30 - the prices weren't cheap (each dish was around $12 each) along with the steamed rice and a glass of wine I spent almost $40. The service was great, the washrooms spotless and the ambience nice (although a little cold - maybe we were too close to the door). I'd recommend Green Chile in Crowfoot if you are looking for authentic Indian food."

February 2011 — "We checked out the Green Chili at Crowfoot. The restaurant is a tiny, intimate place, and the servers were friendly and competent. The plates offered ranged from about $13 to about $17. I chose a spicy chicken dish, one of the house specials for about $17. It was to die for. I can truly say that I savored every mouthful of this tender, tasty meal. When the food arrived, it didn't look like there was very much in the bowl, but it was deeper than it looked, there was actually a lot there. Combined with steamed rice, it made substantial meal. The washrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. The wine list, although not extensive was adequate. The menu even recommended certain wine/food pairings. The house wine was Copper Moon, an inexpensive yet drinkable wine. The white was Pinot Grigio and the red Cabernet Sauvignon. The house wine was about $6 for a 6 oz. glass. I also noted that a bottle of MacWilliams wine from Australia was $30. That's about double the liquor store price, which makes it a good price in a restaurant. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. "

"Excellent lunch buffet."

March 2010 — "I dropped by Green Chili for their take-out lunch buffet. They don’t have too many items but they have all the essentials, including butter chicken, curry beef, eggplant, naan, rice, and a few other items. The food was excellent! This is probably one of the best lunch buffets I’ve ever tried, even though it is take-out only. The butter chicken and curry beef was very tasty. I especially liked the eggplant and this little crispy thing that they have (some sort of vegetable). They help you pack naan on the side so that it doesn’t get soggy with the rest of your food. For $10.50 including taxes, the take-out box comes with a free pop as well. This place offers great value and even though there is less selection than most Indian restaurants you go to, the quality and taste more than makes up for it. I highly recommend Green Chili!"

"Absolutely delicious"

February 2010 — "Green Chili is an East Indian take-out and delivery restaurant located right off of Crowchild Trail across from MacMahon Stadium. This restaurant has been around since 1998 but I just recently noticed it when I got a flyer in the mail. I decided to give the food a try and ordered some curry chicken, garlic naan, saffron rice, and okra masala for take-out. The restaurant itself does not have any seating. They have a small buffet cart at the front where you can get take-out buffet from 11:30 to 1 daily. The wait time for take-out was about 20 minutes and I drove straight home with the food. The portions were fantastic (could feed about 3). The food was only warm when I got home (took about 10 minutes) but it was extremely tasty! This was a great Indian food experience. The garlic naan was unusually buttery looking, but that might have been the reason why it was extra good. Everything was delicious and I would highly recommend you giving Green Chili a try next time you’re in the mood for some Indian food."
