February 2012 — "If you have ever driven down 16th AVE NW, you may have noticed some neon signs advertising the daily food specials. I’ve been to this restaurant before and its unique in that it has specials for all you can eat Vietnamese grill and hot pot and is priced fairly reasonably. The first visit, we ate the all you can eat grill and was satisfied with the volume of food we got. In particular, you are also allowed to order unlimited appetizers from the menu as part of the special. So you can get all you can eat salad rolls, spring rolls, chicken wings..etc. So the value was definitely there. Food quality wise, there was a lot of room for improvement, but for 20 dollars and you can eat along with the selection, it was hard to argue. If you decide to order off the menu, then the value drops significantly. A bowl of pho here costs about 10.99 which is much more expensive than the usual place, and should generally fall between 8-9 dollars. It was not the best pho either, the noodles were quite hard, and the soup was not hot enough. The meat was also tough and dry. I would likely avoid this place for regular pho, but would go again for the all you can eat grill."

December 2010 — "The Palace had a nice warm ambience, especially on a cold winter night. The server was quick and friendly and then left us alone, which was just fine with me. I ordered the Seafood Sate for $10.99 (also #33, same as Minh Chau coincidentally enough! Makes it easy for me to remember) and was a nice size bowl. The soup was spicy and hot with plenty of noodles but lacked sufficient seafood for me. The salad prawn rolls (7.00 for four rolls) were delicious and plump and the peanut sauce was tasty. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant seemed to be good although I didn't go into the washroom. I appreciated the many, huge windows - it is likely very nice during the day. The menu seemed extensive and I noticed that there were many different choices of food from varying parts of Vietnam. I think this is one of the better Vietnamese restaurants in Calgary and would recommend it as a place to try. "

November 2010 — "I’ve never been a fan of Chinese hot pot, which is why I tend to shy away from any type of “grill your own meat” type meals. However my opinion has changed since I went with some friends to Vietnam Palace. This place offers an “all you can eat” Vietnamese style grill option that is quite the deal. For a more than reasonable fee, you get to grill your choice of beef, chicken or pork chops that are all deliciously marinated in a very distinct lemon grass sauce.
As well as the meats, when you order the grill option, you can order as many appetizers as you want. This includes traditional fresh salad rolls. Which was a very nice alternative to the rest of the deep fried options (spring rolls, dumplings and chicken wings).
The restaurants décor is very commissary-ish, which is probably due to the space originally housing a donut-shop. And the service was just that; serviceable.
Dining at Vietnam Palace Grill is something I will be doing again very soon.

April 2010 — "Having tried a number of Vietnamese places, I was surprised to be introduced to a new place that had some very interesting tastes and a nice surprise. My friend ordered a sate beef noodle soup for the both of us and it was more than interesting. The sate sauce and taste wasn't apparent, but the tomato presence definitely set Viet Palace apart from many of the other Viet Restaurants that I have been in before. Apparently, the vermecelli bowls are very tasty too. This place is situated on 16th Ave NW and definitely convenient because of the nice parking lot. It's full of booths, so a definite thumbs up for comfort level. And the service was pretty fast and efficient. For fast payment, it's best to walk up to the front, where the cash register is. I think I may try some different dishes next time, but I like the different twist and interpretation of the Viet flavours. Maybe you will too. "

February 2010 — "I've often passed Vietnam Palace Grill & Noodle House driving down 16th Avenue and finally decided to try it one day. At first I thought this restaurant was actually a fast food store because when you walk in, you notice all the flashy food signs they have on their wall by a counter. But no, it's actually a regular restaurant. I ordered some sate noodle soup for take-out and it was ready in about 5 minutes. The server greeting me was very nice and efficient. The dish was still hot when I brought it home. It was everything I expected a good bowl of noodle soup to be. The ingredients were fresh and the noodles looked very appetizing. I think I might have found my new Vietnamese restaurant to go to. They have a very large menu with tons of choices, including lots of different drinks to choose from. I would definitely go back."

Grilled satay beef vermicelli, grilled short rib beef and spring roll, and special beef noodle soup are examples of what is on order at this Vietnamese restaurant. Guests can relax in a casual environment here. A specialty is their all-you-can-eat hot pot.
