December 2009 — "I've been driving past House of Kabobs on Edmonton Trail almost everyday on my way too and from work. And for everyday over the course of two years I've said the same thing "Hmm...I should go there for dinner." Well lo and behold I finally listened to that little voice in my head and went there with some friends the other day. If only the little voice knew what I now know. Which is, this place simply isn't that good. Now it's very probable that my issue with this restaurant has more to do with my lack of enjoyment in Persian cuisine, but I could not get over how boring my meal was. I ordered a couple of chicken kabobs with rice and salad. When our meal was delivered, I was flabbergasted by how gigantic the meal appeared to be, as my kabobs were plated on a bed or rice that could quite literally feed a family of four. My enthusiasm was immediately replaced by boredom as the kabobs themselves were dry and flavourless, and definitely needed the assistance of a sauce to remedy it's blaise taste. Unfortunately, as I assume is the case in Persian cuisine there was none to be had. As I ate my meal I began to realize the size of my meal was an aberration, as I found myself rationing the amount of kabob I was eating because in fact there was very little of it. The rice had tricked me into believing I had found a good deal. In the end, I threw out 3/4 of the rice that accompanied my meal. I left the restaurant full, but not in the least bit satisfied."
