July 2010 — "Going to Cabin 12 is really an experience in itself. The walls are covered in art, the tables covered in old sports news clippings, and the rest is decorated with... well all kinds of cool stuff. The staff, though small (too small when we were there) are attentive and personable, and very welcoming.
Too bad it's a breakfast place! I know I am the only person who feels this way; I'm not a breakfast food fan. I AM a fan of reading their menu though; dotted with cartoons and named after celebrities (particularly liked le Bowie- 'stardusted with icing sugar'). Simultaneously adorable and hilarious.
I had the Green Poutine, which uses vegetarian gravy and soy cheese. Wicked idea; I love poutine, but just try and find some that isn't made with beef or imitation beef gravy! Unfortunately, this gravy was a bit of an off-putting gelatinous slop. Sorry guys!
That said, it would be worth going just for the coffee. Now that is good."

September 2009 — "The place has a hostel feel to it with bright colours and very laid back service. It is located on Pandora Avenue just around the corner from Government street. It has a good breakfast menu and we decided to pop in there for a quick bite before we looked around the Government street market. I said quick and while we were seated quickly, the service turned out to be slow. Not what we were wanting at 11:30 when none of us had eaten anything for breakfast yet. I ordered the breakfast special and my wife went with the eggs benedict. We waited almost an hour for our food and breakfast food has to be quicker than that. When our meals did come, mine was good breakfast grub, sausages, eggs and toast. The eggs benedict was slightly disappointing but the long wait did not help our appreciation of the food. Quite a few other tables were also asking why their food was taking so long and it seemed that the chef was running around taking orders, chatting to tables and cooking at the same time. So we probably went there on a bad morning for Cabin 12 but we will not be going back."

"This review makes me kind of nostalgic and also happy with how far we've come. Back in the 'cowboy days', it was all we could do to keep all the balls in the air. Now that we've been open over a year, things are humming along most of the time. We still have super friendly staff, and now we are a lot better at what we do. We're known for our coffee and our friendliness... a great place to set up your laptop and stay for as long as you like, especially on weekdays when we don't have lineups. No pressure to move on and you get free refills on the organic coffee. We're also getting known for the quality of our hollandaise -- hand whisked, in small batches, the heart of a great Eggs Benedict."

Cabin 12 is a casual joint to grab breakfast, brunch or lunch in a hip environment near Chinatown just off Government Street. The menu features amusing dishes with names like Pamela Scrambleson, Le Bowie, and Willie's Hash. Along with an array of omelettes and eggs Benny, sandwiches, burgers, soups and salads.
