January 2011 — "Sockeye Sushi located in Victoria is a secret to be shared. When we walked in the restaurant was not busy, maybe two other tables, and it is very quiet as well. Our server/host was very polite, and the menu is great! As we reviewed the menu and ordered Japanese beer we noticed a few more tables come in, but still the atmosphere remained quiet and well organized.
The traditional sushi rolls are available but I had to try the caterpillar roll with Unagi, tempura prawn, cucumber and topped with avocado and a yummy sauce drizzled over the entire roll. They use real crab for the California rolls and the spicy tuna roll is to die for, the tuna is so fresh. I loved their inventiveness of the sushi, and the presentation is visually stimulating. Not only is the food wonderful so are the prices, most rolls start anywhere from $3 to $12 and they have sushi boats for 2 or more and lots of other options to satisfy your Japanese palate. I have been back to Sockeye and each time the experience is the same, it’s a quiet small place that is to remain a local favorite and hidden treasure of the city.

November 2009 — "This is my favorite sushi place in town. They have special rolls that are "fusion" style and don't contain raw fish, which tend to be favored by "beginner" sushi eaters (although it seems like these days, no one is a beginner anymore). They tend to have imitation crab meat filling, and and then variations of other fillings, like tempura, eel, and shrimp. They do have the regular raw fish sushi, but you can get that anywhere else, so we tend to order the fusion sushi here.
The decor and furniture in the restaurant is very cute, and Japanese-like. Most everything seems to be make of wood, including the chairs, table, and dividers. They have many private booths as well as open tables. The service is really friendly and on our last visit (we're regulars), I guess we finally made it on their "on the house" list, and got some free ice cream :)."

Sockeye Sushi offers a fresh selection of traditional and contemporary rolls on their menu. The casual atmosphere is complemented by wood accents, private booths and Japanese decor.
