March 2011 — "From the moment you walk up to this yellow house stuck in the middle of all these trendy places on 17th, it's like walking into a popular restaurant in Mexico. The decor is imported straight from Veracruz where the owner is from and the music has that beautiful latino flavour.
I had the ceviche which is raw white fish with cilantro and lime juice and it was only $7.95 for such a healthy option. I wasn't that hungry so I enjoyed some beergarita's which is margarita mix and tequila in a margarita glass and a bottle of beer. You then tip the beer bottle upside down in the margarita glass and the magic begins. It's a perfect blend for only $12.95. What I love about this place is that it keeps true to its roots and isn't trying to please every type of person. The clientele are there for a purely mexican vibe, not some watered-down western version of mexico. There are only Mexican beers on the menu (sol, corona, dos equis, pacifico, negro modelo) and the menu defines the origins of tequila. This is the place for a true connoisseur of tequila because there isn't cheap jose cuervo. There is only the quality ranging from $5.95/shot to $36.95/shot.
It's a great date place but also has a kick ass patio for the summer people watchers on the 17th Ave

September 2010 — "A friend had wanted to try this place after driving by and seeing the sign. I wish he never saw it to begin with. We had high hopes for some authentic tacos but were quite disappointed. Upon arrival, the décor itself was nice and quaint but that was the only good thing about the place. The menu itself is very limited. I ordered 3 tacos with different types of taco meat. The meat was so, so dry. It was hard to swallow and I had to literally wash it down with a drink. The portions were quite small as well. It was decent price at about $15 but still, not worth it. I don’t mind paying for good food but this was not good food. If this is what authentic Mexican is like, then I’m not going to enjoy Mexico when I get there… I think you can safely assume that we won’t be back any time soon. "

July 2010 — "I had wanted to try Los Chilitos Taco and Tequila bar on 17th ave for sometime. And my birthday was coming up and it seemed to be the place to be. Summertime, hot, patio, tequila tacos, genuine looking "Mexican" experience. I know all about Mexico and whats authentic or not. My parents and brother and family live in Cabo, and I have spent alot of time there. This place sure was "Mexican" alright and in the worst of ways. The food was less than disappointing. I would say we paid for the whole patio experience. The music, the outfits, the decor. The food really wasn't much. The only really worth going for are the drinks. I did leave happy after all the double margaritas I had. I think they are very legendary for their Tequila selection. They boast of over 100 different Tequilas in their bar. Wow. The best of the best. That would be the only reason I would ever go back. Food terrible, Tequila great. Service moderate. Our food took hrs to come and was cold upon arrival. The prices were ridiculous for what they were offering and really not authentic food. More American Mexican than Mexican Mexican. Go for a drink don't order the food!
Nice patio to have a beer on. "

December 2009 — "These aren’t your run-of-the-mill Taco Bell burritos. They’re closer to the real enchilada (pardon the pun) – the street snack that’s popular in Mexico. The lunch deal is a little too expensive for everyday visits ($12.99 for three tacos, rice and beans), but overall it’s well worth the price. You can also get individual tacos for $3, or 6 for $18.95 including a selection of salsas. "

A fun, casual and contemporary atmosphere is offered at Los Chilitos found in Uptown 17. The focus is on offering authentic Mexican "street food" including carnitas, tacos, tortillas, buritos, refried beans and the like.
