December 2011 — "I found this eatery confusing at first -- is it a fast food place or a restaurant? Turn out it's kind of a bit of both, but I'd say the prices lean more towards "restaurant" than fast food.
Nonetheless, I like it here -- they have some great dishes! I've had a few different noodle dishes, which were all really tasty, as well as the butter chicken, which is excellent. One thing I would NOT recommend getting is the Penang Shrimp and Chicken ... oh my lord, was it every SPICY! I honestly couldn't eat more than a few bites of it and I'm someone who eats quite a bit of spicy food. I had to give up -- I gave it to my bravest friend who can eat any amount of spiciness in no time at all, and even he struggled. To be fair, they had warned me when I ordered.
One more tip -- if you're going to the 17th ave location for lunch, go a bit before 12 ... the place is completely overrun by high school kids at precisely 12:05. "

February 2010 — "I had visited my first Wok Box in Grande Prairie last summer and had never known about this restaurant before. I thought it was going to be an average take out joint, but I was surprised. I was again surprised when I saw one in Calgary in a newly developed area. My previous experience was positive, so I couldn’t wait to go again. Their customer service went above and beyond my expectations. Once you place your order at the counter, you seat yourself and the staff brings your food to your table. They were very accommodating when I asked to have double veggies and no rice; they seemed very pleased to provide me with whatever I asked, and also gave us a complementary appetizer. Once we received our meal—mine was a delicious teriyaki shrimp and vegetables—they visited to find out how we liked our meal. I did not expect this at a place where you order at the counter. The staff was very patient and friendly, and the food was done perfectly. As we departed they wished us well and asked us to visit again. I have been back for repeat visits, and will likely go often. January 2010 — "The Wok Box is a great alternative to fast food. There are a few tables to sit at, or a very efficient take-out counter that moves quickly. There were a lot of tasty choices on the menu, featuring various types of dishes from Mongolia, Thailand, China, Korea and so on. You can sit and watch your food being cooked while sipping on your favorite beverage - I was in a rush and I was able to get my food in 10 minutes and still sit and eat it with time to spare. Nice. I chose the Pad Thai with Ribbon Noodles for $10.49 and Edamane Beans as an appetizer for $5. While the food is very good, the price seemed a bit high considering the amount was less than expected. The place was very clean and the bathrooms were obviously looked after. It seemed locals of the area were regular customers as the cooks seemed to know every second person who entered through the doors. Overall, the Wok Box has good food but the price is a bit high."

January 2010 — "went to wokbox last night on 17th ave sw. $35 for two curry's, two pops and 4 springrolls...way too expensive for what we got. everyone was still hungry and we had to buy supplementary dinner elsewhere.
we asked for one curry with no onions or celery - but it came with both celery and onions - we had brought our food home so we didn't know until it was too late to go back.
on the menu the jungle curry includes pineapple, snow peas, broccoli, carrots and the meat of your choice over rice or noodles, i got onions, celery, some chicken bits, a whole lot of rice, a single piece of broccoli and some bok choy. where were the pineapple, snow peas and carrots??
portions - small, price - expensive. oh! and the springrolls have an oozy inside texture, they don't feel good to eat. and the dipping sauce for the springrolls is creamy...which is just weird. i eat a lot of asian food at a lot of different places, i've never encountered a creamy plum type sauce before.
stay away! stay far far far away!!!"

September 2009 — "This little place at 4916 130 AVE. SE is part of a strip mall. To get your food, you line up at the counter and place your order very much like you would in a food fair at a shopping centre. There are no servers. You carry it to your table and dig in. The prices are significantly more than the food fair however. Look to spend at least ten bucks on the plate of food. A definite advantage over the food fair is that you get to eat with real plates and utensils, and although the place is not fancy, it does have private tables. Several stir fries are available, as well as salads and shareables. The taste of my stir fry was very good. I love Asian food and this did not disappoint. I have to admit, though, it bothered me a bit to be paying restaurant prices when there was nobody serving me. It seems though, that the place is doing fairly well as it was quite busy, and after reading a bit , I learned that the Wok Box is a franchise that began in Edmonton and is spreading across the country. In conclusion, if you have a hankering for Thai food and don't have time enjoy a restaurant, the Wok Box will feed you well and quickly. "
