"Best Breakfast in Calgary"

April 2012 — "One busy Saturday, I decided to try my favorite breakfast hangouts competition down the street and I'm so glad I did. It's amazing -- their menu is huge and full so many yummy gourmet-sounding things and the food has never disappointed. The servers have always been great -- really friendly and prompt. The prices are quite reasonable for the kind of high-end ingredients they use to create their dishes. The decor is bright and cheery and atmosphere is really fun and lively -- if you end up at the long table in the middle, you'll definitely wind up in a friendly conversation with your table mates. The only downside to Overeasy is the size. it's teeny tiny and there's always a wait -- and that wait usually happens outside as there's no room indoors. Moral of the story: Go early if you can, or be prepared to wait outside. It's not so bad -- they'll provide you with coffee and a paper. "

"Another gem in Bridgeland "

October 2011 — "Generally I go somewhere else if I am heading to Bridgeland for breakfast however we decided to try Oeb as a friend suggested it was delicious and they also had gluten free options for the girl I was going with. When we got there we were shoked at how quick the wait was and how practically it seemed to be laid out. Despite the fact that the girl seating people was relatively unpleasant our very pleasant server and quick service made up for it. The menu had a variety of options that looked delicious, which almost made the experience overwhelming for me so I just went basic eggs and sausage breaky. The organic coffee and unfiltered apple juice were nice standard items. I can't wait to try Oeb again! "

"Used to be Overeasy Breakfast"
Image

Save Review

September 2011 — "Oeb ran into copywrite issues with another restaurant somewhere else in Canada and changed their name from Overeasy Breakfast to Oeb Breakfast Company. They are still located on Edmonton Trail NE. As the name implies, they specialize in breakfasts. On weekend mornings they can be very busy. On a Wednesday they were quite full, but there was no wait. I spotted the word Chorizo on the menu so I had to order that meal. It's my weakness. The Chorizo Omelette was big and tasty, although a bit expensive at $12.50. They have a lot of great choices on the menu, too many to list here. The restaurant has tables situated around the perimeter of the room with a centre row of bar stools and a counter. The entrance wall is mostly windows facing west. The server was hustling about but maintained a positive and friendly manner. I believe the coffee was organic. It was good, but a bit weak for my tastes. If you find Starbucks to be a bit strong you will probably find this coffee to be just right in strength. "

"Best Eggs Benedict "

May 2011 — "On Edmonton Trail outside of downtown is a great little breakfast spot with the best Eggs Benedict in town. It is very hard to get a seat and the wait on the weekends can be anywhere from half and hour to 2 hours. It is very busy from word of mouth and it quite a tiny little spot hence why the wait can be so long on weekends. If you have the time during the week I would recommend trying it on a weekday morning to avoid the long wait times. They specialize in eggs benedict and they have about 10 different kinds to choose from. Including my favorite; Salmon eggs benedict. All their dishes are superb absolutely fantastic! The coffee is amazing and the menu prices are very reasonable. It makes the wait times worth it on the weekends if you can get in, but try to go as early as your can to avoid the brunch crowd."

"Best of the Bunch"

April 2011 — "I've often shown my disdain for the current "Breakfast House" restaurant trend that has risen in Calgary over the last few years, but I have to say, I think I've finally found the one breakfast house that perfectly balances style and substance. Found less than a block away from the epitome of faux-authentic known as Diner Deluxe; Overeasy Breakfast offers a fantastic menu of breakfast and lunch delights that may use "organic" and "local" ingredients, but don't run up a mountain-top to let those facts be known. It was this understated menu and accompanying service that led me to order a butcher's block full of locally deli meats, pates' and cheeses. For a late breakfast/lunch, I was in heaven. While I was initially hesitant to order the butcher block because of the rather hefty price ($18) in the end I was glad I did. The block contained a nice arrangement of prosciutto, cured salami, oka cheese, duck and orange rind pate, and pork loaf. Simply put, if you aren't quite in the mood for breakfast or are looking to just spend some time with friends over a light snack, you must order this! While I did not order breakfast, my friends did, and based on the look of fulfillment on their faces, the breakfast items are also quite good."

"Good breakfast"

February 2011 — "On a lazy weekend morning, there is nothing better than heading out for breakfast in a cool little place with a bit of character and good food. Overeasy is located on Edmonton Trail and is that kind of place. If you plan to go, expect a bit of a wait. The lineup is usually spilling out the door and onto the sidewalk but the quick and efficient service helps them move through it at a good pace. Breakfasts range from traditional to a bit more unconventional and special touches include their organic coffee, out of the ordinary bread choices for toast, big potato fries seasoned with herbs instead of ordinary hashbrowns, and delicious preserves for your toast! They boast a few different types of eggs benedict, but for me, the good old fashioned 2 eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast does the trick! The price is definitely reasonable. It's a place you will return to time and time again. "

"Great Breakfast"
Image

Save Review

December 2010 — "Overeasy Breakfast is a small eatery located on Edmonton Trail and 8th Ave NE. This stretch of road is sometimes referred to as the Breakfast belt, and for good reason. You can find several character breakfast places here and this one in particular is worth a visit. We decided to come here for breakfast at 10AM on a Saturday. Having limited seating, there was a line up out the door. Surprisingly we got our seats fairly quickly after a 5 min wait, but this was due to only needing a 2 person table. The party ahead of us had 5 people and were still waiting after we paid our bills. My suggestion is to come early and to avoid the prime time rush or come in smaller groups. Once seated, we received very prompt service despite how busy it was. Our coffees were topped up consistently and food arrived quickly. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with sausage and it was very delicious. The eggs were cooked just right and came with a side of their home fries. Basically large crispy cut fries that were just fantastic. The prices were quite reasonable as well with most items under the $10 mark. My breakfast was about $8 dollars. Overall I had a good experience here and would definitely come again, my only concern was the wait times if you arrive with a large group. So plan well. "

"Long line ups, but great service."

December 2010 — "We heard about this place from a friend of ours and decided to see what the hype was about. This is a breakfast place that is obviously very popular based on the wait times for this place. If possible, try to go in groups of two as it’s easier to find seating. I remember being seated within 10 minutes before a lady that waited before us, and she was only seated after we finished our meal! Again, the place was packed but the service was quite good. I got my coffee right away and menus were given then too. I got the “It’s a Soul in a Bowl” which sounded really good. It’s eggs, herb potatoes, cheese curds, and bacon. When it arrived, I was a little surprised as it came in a semi Chinese take out box. It felt almost like I was eating poutine. It was very different than what I was used to and not what I was expecting. Don`t get me wrong, it was still good, just not what I had in mind for breakfast. At the cost of $10.00, it was pretty good. I think the next time I come though, I will try and order a traditional meal. We will definitely be back. "

"A Great Morning"

January 2010 — "This was my second visit to Overeasy, the first visit being soon after they opened. As expected there have been great improvements with the service as what it had seemed like new staff were still learning how things were done. This was very pleasing. The funky new age layout is fun and grows on you although you do feel a little cramped at first. I had the 'one of my favorites' which is a bagel with two fried eggs topped with tomatoes and guacamole. This tasted very good with great guacamole. The potatoes at Overeasy are some of the best (they're fries really) and the seasoning is very good. The fruit that comes with it is also fresh and good and not just as a garnish like so many other places. The berry smoothie was also very fruity and good. "

"Breakfast@Overeasy Breakfast"

December 2009 — "We had a late breakfast at Overeasy Breakfast on Saturday. The place was still half full in the afternoon. Music played in the background at an acceptable level. Some places are so noisy that you are unable to carry on a conversation due to the noise. I ordered the 2 eggs with 2 sausages, deep-fried potatoes and 2 toast. My companion had the same with bacon instead of sausage. The service was awesome. Our food arrived in minutes after ordering. Everything tasted fresh. The portions were good, leaving us full, not stuffed. The washrooms were clean. The staff was very friendly. "

"Bright Cheery Breakfast place"

November 2009 — "My friend and I decided to try Overeasy and it was delicious! There was quite a line-up for seating as the breakfast place was a bit small. However, the waiters were nice enough to offer hot coffee to those who had to stand in line (it was very very cold that day!). When we got to our table (the tables have these wonderful little hooks for your purses!), I ordered an organic coffee (free refills) - which was smooth and not bitter at all. We then shared two plates - a French style crepe which had bananas, nuts, maple syrup, chocolate and icecream and the Uova alla Toscana, which was an open faced sandwich with bacon and a side of fruit and potatoes. They were both really good and filling. The place is packed so it makes the environment louder and more cheery - a great place to come to in the morning."

"Delicious Breakfast!"
Image

Save Review

November 2009 — "I live in Renfrew and am always in search of delicious breakfasts in our neighbourhood. A restaurant that has been there for years recently closed down and has reopened with new owners, a completely new design and a great menu! We arrived around 8:30 on a Sunday and there was already a line-up out the door. We decided that we would wait, however, since we wanted to try this place out. We were seated within 15 minutes at a tall-stooled bar in the middle of the restaurant. It is a really small place, probably about 10 tables and about 20 bar seats. The menu is filled with traditional breakfast items like bennies, but also has crepes, French toast (which looked amazing) and omelettes. Overeasy Breakfast is open for breakfast and lunch, but closes at 3pm every day, so it also has burgers etc. I chose to have the Huevo Rancheros, which came with guacamole, salsa and refried beans and a burrito filled with eggs etc. It was very delicious. It also came with fresh fruit like pineapple, cantaloupe, grapefruit and honey dew melon. My wife had the traditional bennie, but i only got one bite of it because she ate the whole thing. It was tasty. The potatoes that came with it were very, very good. And it also came with fruit. I had tea to drink and the waitress brought out a whole box of Mighty Leaf teas for me to choose from. The service was quite good despite how busy they were and we will definitely be going back for breakfast or lunch sometime soon. Oh, and the meals were around $10, pretty reasonable for what you get."

"AMAZING place for breakfast, worth the wait! "

August 808 — "I'm always on the lookout for somewhere new to have a lazy weekend breakfast. I live close to Overeasy, located on Edmonton Trail, so I had to try it out! My sister and I almost didn't go because the lineup was out the door when we got there at 11am on a Sunday morning. However, we decided it must be worth the wait! The inside of the restaurant was really cute, with tables on the perimeter and a big, long, bar height table in the middle with modern, white stools on either side. The service was very personable and efficient. The server took time to talk to us about the menu, even though it was really busy. I had the smoked salmon eggs benedict, which was a delicious and fresh take on a favorite of mine! The value was there, and the quality and taste were definitely there as well! Even the packets of jam they served with the toast were different than anywhere I have ever seen. And the coffee was nice and strong, which is VERY hard to find in a breakfast place. So if you don't mind the wait, Overeasy is a great dining experience. It sure beats generic breakfast restaurants! "
