January 2011 — "The #5 Wor Wonton was big. Really big. Big on flavor, big on freshness (love the crunchy veggies), big on variety (noodles, pork strips, wontons, veg...) and big on value. I love Vietnamese Pho but this soup is a much better choice for your dollar. Go. We tried it and we are now one of their many raving fans. The waitress told us they'd been at this very location for 30 years. Live on King's!!!!!"

October 2010 — "My sister had been raving about Kings for ages and we finally decided to go with her. She had told me she always went just for the Wor Wonton soup. It is apparently the best in Calgary by far, and I've been told by a few people not just my sister. It is a strange location, I think they have two others but the soup is not the same at all locations. The best one is the NE location. It is in an industrial area, and was a little bit hard to find so make sure you know where you are going before hand. Its really nothing special inside, the restaurant itself is quite boring nothing to it really. But what awaits you inside is well worth the wait for a seat in this tightly packed cafe style restaurant. Its basically elbow to elbow as they have managed to pack alot of tables into a small space. The menu is simple and to the point and quite reasonably priced. Service is fast and friendly, and the soup my sister did not lie! My husband had the seafood which he loved. I don't think I would have liked it but to each his own. I had the Wor Wonton suggested by my sister. They are famous for it afterall. It was amazing to say the least and I think it was only $10 for the huge bowl which fed me and my daughter. We were stuffed! Soup arrived about 5 minutes after ordering so it could be considered fast food. If you like Wonton, they have a variety of different kinds, and for a picky person, who may not like wonton, there are other things on the menu to chose from. GO! Its amazing!! "

"The KING of Wonton Soup"
September 2010 — "Kings is nothing fancy and nothing overdone. It's clearly all about the wonton soup. My girlfriend took me to Kings saying that I absolutely HAD to try their soup. I figured it's wonton soup....what could be so special? Well it has changed the way I see wonton soup forever. Kings is the kind of place you wouldn't go to unless hearing about it from someone. Located right off Barlow, you wouldn't even know it was there. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon to find the place full of soup eaters! We were seated and served immediately. The service was extremely fast and efficient throughout the whole experience. I definitely recommend the pork dumplings as an appetizer. The soup came right after and was it ever huge! It consisted of 6 huge wontons, a bunch of veggies, pork and noodles! What a meal! I could hardly finish the whole thing. Delicious! I saw some amazing looking burgers and other things being served around me too, and I must say I'm excited to go back and taste what other tasty things Kings has to offer!"

September 2010 — "I went for lunch with 3 others to Kings on a Saturday and was amazed at how busy it was! It is apparently no secret that this seemingly "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant is a gem! The decor is nothing special and the patrons are clearly not there for the ambiance. Everything is simple and to the point. The food is clearly the focus. Seeing as Kings is famous for their war wonton soup, we all ordered up a bowl. Our soup came within 5 minutes and looked just as good as the pictures. And it was HUGE! What a great value. Everything about the soup was amazing. The wontons were large and delicious, the broth was good to the last drop, the veggies were crisp and fresh and the noodles added to the soup were the perfect touch. The service was quick and efficient, with the servers having no time to stop and chat. It was easy to see why Kings has such a good reputation. The quality, service and value are all on spot! Also, all of the other food that was coming out of the kitchen looked amazing as well. We will have to go back and try something different! "

August 2010 — "With summer weather quickly disappearing, and a chill to the Calgary air, we decided to head over to Kings Restaurant to have some of their Wor Wonton that I have heard so many people rave about. We arrived at around 1:00 pm on a weekday to avoid the lunch time rush. When we arrived, we were greeted with with a friendly smile and asked where we wanted to sit. The individual proceeded to hand me 2 menus and we walked ourselves to our table. I am not really one to complain about this, as I don't mind the casual nature of this type of service. What is more concerning to me, is the actual quality of the food. The restaurant was clean, and somewhat and vibrant. We ordered the Wor Won Ton soup, and the waitress asked us if we wanted to upsize our order to the special for $2.99 more, which included a choice of tea or coffee, and dumplings. We gladly accepted this. The meal quickly arrived at our table. The Wor Won ton was good. I especially liked the noodles and the nice sized wontons. Overall I would say that it was a good wor wonton, and the size was above average. The dumplings were also good, and I would order them again. Our total meal for 2 ended up being just under $25.00. All in all, I would go back to Kings for some soup, but would also want to try some of their other menu items. I would recommend Kings as an above average lunch time venue, but nothing to rave about."

October 2009 — "I went to King's restaurant for lunch recently with a friend (the SE location) since I heard how famous they were for their wonton soup and how it was the best in Calgary. I had the soup to test it out, my friend had the lemongrass chicken.
The soup wasn't that good at all. In fact only when all the solids inside the bowl was gone and I had added some spice did the remaining liquid even taste good. Very disappointing.
The lemongrass chicken was inedible. It was like trying to eat a piece of rubber. My friend had to take it home and was going to cook it more since it was so underdone. it was like eating a raw piece of chicken. Disgusting. First and last time either of us will be eating at the self proclaimed 'Wonton King'. "

It is in an unassuming location in a northeast industrial park, but many make the trip to have a hot, steaming bowl of soup.
