August 2011 — "This Vietnamese submarines restaurant is located in a plaza in Chinatown which is across from Dragon City Mall. I've frequented this place multiple times and always order the same thing! I ordered the assorted sub (toasted!) and with a pop. The prices are fairly decent and the service is quick and efficient. The server came out from around the counter to personally serve our subs to us which I really appreciated. As well, she told us to pay her later when she noticed we had money on the table, I really appreciated that friendly feel to it and felt really welcomed here. The Vietnamese assorted subs included pickled carrots, onions, jalapeno peppers (which were way too hot for me!), Vietnamese sausage, and this special butter. It was delicious and tasted amazing toasted as the butter was warmed as well as the meat! I have eaten a lot of Vietnamese subs in other cities in Canada but I really enjoy this one the best. "

June 2011 — "This Vietnamese Sub place is quite good. They have a great selection of subs to choose from. This time I ordered the Sate Beef, which comes with your choice of toppings. The service is really friendly, as the owner is the one making the subs. You can eat at small tables which are kind of part of the main hallway in the mall, but I don't mind. The ingredients are really fresh, and the table where they make the subs is visible and looks very clean. The subs are very well priced- all around $6.00."

June 2011 — "This little Vietnamese Sub place tucked away in Chinatown makes the best subs in Calgary! The owner Helen is very friendly, you can either sit at the little tables, or take your sub to go. I think what makes these the best is the bread. The bread is so fresh, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. They taste like they just came out of the oven! The selection is very good, I had the Sate Chicken Sub (no cheese). They come with the standard toppings -carrots, cilantro etc.... but they will make it however you would like. One day I have to try the other kinds, but I always order the chicken! These make a great snack or meal.
I would definitely recommend this place! "

February 2011 — "As an amateur sandwich/vietnamese sub connoisseur, this is one of my favorite places in Calgary. The other two being Thi Thi's which is also located in Chinatown and Golden Bell on 17th Ave. Trung Nguyen's is tucked away in a small and unassuming strip mall in Chinatown across from the Harry Hays building. Their menu offers a variety of vietnamese subs and bubble teas as well. The typical vietnamese sandwich concoctions such as beef, chicken, assorted (which seems to be a type of vietnamese deli meat) are available along with lesser seen flavors such as buffalo chicken.
By far my favorite of theirs is the assorted and buffalo chicken. Every vietnamese sub shop adds a special sauce consisting of what seems to be part mayo and soy sauce amongst other seasonings that gives the sandwiches a special kick. Trung Nguyen's sauce is one of the best around. Buffalo chick is a unique flavor I have yet to taste anywhere else. Very spicy, tangy, and delicious.
Shop owners make the sandwiches on the spot and extremely friendly. Highly recommended for lovers of vietnamese subs."

October 2009 — "Someone told me about this hole in the wall vietnamese sub shop a long time ago and when they say hole in a wall they meant it. This place operates out of a very small space inside one of Chinatowns oldest malls. (I believe its called Far East Mall?) But what they lack in visual appeal they more than make up for in taste. Hands down, this is one of my favorite spots for a Vietnamese Sub and I've had plenty. The couple that runs this place is extremely friendly and have a great memory. If you come visit this place more than a couple of times, they will start to remember your name and even your order. Often times I will come in and begin to place my order and they will already know what I want. I saw this happen to several other customers while I was waiting as well. My usual order is the regular assorted sub which is the authentic vietnamese sub. They also have many other types as well ranging from bbq rib to satay chicken and more. I'm sure you will find a sub that suits your taste and I cant stop recommending this place to others. Prices are very reasonable considering what others charge these days. I paid about $4.50 for my sub which is about a foot long. Go try it today!"

September 2009 — "If you are ever in the Chinatown area, this little sub place is a good lunch spot. It is located in a mall across the street from the Harry Hays building (next to Song Viet restaurant on 3rd Avenue). The little deli is mainly meant for take out but there are a couple of tables if you want to eat there. Subs range between 4.50 and 7 dollars and are a fair size. One of the best things about this place is the wide selection of subs. These range from the regular assorted and satay subs to honey/BBQ/teriyaki chicken and Vietnamese sausage subs. Another thing that stands out about this place is the unique sub sauce used. It's a tangy homemade ranch/tar tar looking sauce that's different than the one used at other Vietnamese sub places. The couple working there is also very friendly. They recommend you call ahead for multiple orders so you can just drive by and pick it up."
