August 2011 — "We have been visiting Cheungs Kitchen on a regular basis for just over a
year now. We used to go to several different Chinese restaurants for various occasions, but since visiting Cheungs the first time we have been happy to return there. The food is always great, with large portions and friendly service. Highly recommend trying it. "

July 2010 — "When my family was down, we went to have dinner at Cheung's Kitchen, found right on Centre Street Northwest. It's a homey type of restaurant that you could easily pass by, but give it a try! For an Asian restaurant, I think that you get some pretty good service. When we came in, the food was ready for us - a full 9 course meal with dessert and Chinese programming. The first course was the soup, which I have to say was just alright. Not really that flavourful but alright. As a generalization, I would say that the food is good, but very oily - that's what the shine is from. The one dish that I thought was extremely different was a rolled bean curd dish that had some vegetables and thick sauce. I have never had it before, and after the first bite, I thought I was hooked. The flavour was different and the texture was very delightful. There was a bit of crunch and you get a mixture of the vegetables and sauce that worked well together. Aside from that, I would also highly recommend their lobster with cream sauce and fried noodles. MMmm. So good! By the end of the meal, I was so full that I almost didn't finish the dessert soup. Almost.

July 2010 — "I am in Calgary for a work trip and have not had a decent supper since I got here a few days ago. I noticed this little restaurant on a strip mall close to where I am staying.
The next day I stopped to order takeout before going to relax.Being alone with no one to dine with I chose takeout, much against my belief that I never get the same quantity or quality in takeout due to small containers and food getting mushy by the time you eat it.
So I ordered the Salt & Pepper Squid and the Three Kinds of Seafood Chow Mein. Ran to Safeway and returned to find my order ready in max 15 minutes.
Jumped into the van and the smell was...wow! Got back to open the very large styro containers to find what I would say in complete honesty the best damn takeout Chinese I ever had.
The Chow Mein was loaded with succulent shrimp, fresh squid and scallops, bok choy and fancy cut carrots on a huge bed of noodles. The Squid dish was huge. Eight big chunks of squid into the dish did not make a dent.
Flavors? Well, nothing short of fabulous.
As Arnie would say..."I'll be back"."

August 2009 — "My new favourite traditional Cantonese restaurant. Cheung's Kitchen is a relatively new restaurant that is housed in what used to be called Little Beijing on Centre Street North.
The restaurant offers a top-quality wait-staff, great dishes and prices cheaper than anywhere else in the city. If there's one draw back, the decor makes the restaurant appear more "hole-in-the-wall" than it really is.
My last time here, my friends and I ordered a number of dishes. Particularly good was the Hong Kong-style sweet and sour pork chops with salad dressing, as well as a dish that my friend ordered in Cantonese. When I asked what it translates to the best he could do was say it was "salt and pepper fish". The dish is essentially battered anchovies deep-fried and then tossed in fresh peppers and chillies. It was very greasy, but a great appetizer.
As is typical in a well-run Chinese restaurant, our meal was preceded with a complimentary soup and ended with a complimentary dessert. Both of which were served by an outstanding server.
There's not doubt my friends and I will be back very, very soon."

Located off Centre Street just north of the Trans Canada Highway, this Chinese restaurant is a local goldmine situated about 10 minutes away by car from Chinatown. The menu features mainly Cantonese dishes.
