January 2010 — "Garrison Pub is an intimate little restaurant and bar in the Altadore community in the SW of Calgary. I feel very confident bringing new people to the Garrison, particularly for business lunches because the food is consistently good. They have recently expanded the restaurant side, making it less crowded but definitely noisier. The ambience is fun, complete with a huge hockey player sculpture at the entry of the pub. In the summer, the windows open right up to create an indoor patio, a wonderful feature in Calgary where the summer zips by so quickly. I have favorites at the pub, including their daily soups, portabello mushroom sandwich, the turkey cranberry sandwich, and of course their yam fries. I have heard from others that any version of steak sandwich is great, as well as the different pastas. The pizzas are also said to be very delicious and the "make your own" for $8.99 +.99 per topping is very popular with my friends. I tried the Portabella Sandwich, consisting of a very juicy portabella topped with roasted red peppers, swiss cheese and a pesto mayo for $12. I got a house salad (always very good) and fries with my sandwich. The sandwich is large and I ended up taking 1/2 of it home with me. As usual, the service was quick and efficient and the food delicious. The house wines are reasonably priced by the glass ($6) and the selection of beers is quite extensive (from about $5.75 - $7.85). My only complaint is the noise; it is to be expected in a pub and so I accept it, but WOW, it can get deafening. It is better in the summer when the windows are open. I absolutely recommend this little community pub to anyone who enjoys creative food wiith their favorite beverage."

August 2009 — "Garrisons Pub and Eatery is in the Marda Loop area of Calgary, just off of 20th Street in a little strip mall. I like the feel of the place. The tables are of dark wood and the service is very good. I especially like the way the wall shutters are opened up during summer months to bring in the fresh air. It is almost like being on a patio. I ordered the Royal Enfield Pizza. for $11.00 The description was very much like a Greek Pizza in that it had Feta Cheese, but had Chorizo Sausage as well. Of course Feta means salty and Chorizo is spicy so the pizza definitely packed a punch. To my taste, it was on the verge of being a bit to spicy, but was still enjoyable. Something I did not like, though, was that the toppings were pretty much confined to the bottom half of the pizza slice. The upper half was puffed up and thick, (with little or no toppings) and the bottom half was thin but with the toppings. SO: If my math serves me correctly, more than half of the pizza was devoid of toppings. Good deal for them! I have never come across a pizza like that before, and to be honest I felt a bit ripped off. On the positive side, there are some interesting and delicious beers on tap. "

DescriptionSo named because of its proximity to Garrison Woods, this pub is found in Marda Loop. The menu is comprised of the usual pub food, from pizza to burgers and everything in between. It has a good neighbourhood pub feel and is popular with students and locals alike. They are open for lunch and dinner and are usually showing the latest sport game.
