December 2009 — "My boyfriend, me and our friends were trying to find a cheap alternative to eating out as we were trying to save money. Instead of ordering food, we decided to order some BBQ Pork to go for pick up. The plan was something cheap and easy. This is definitely the place that will fit those criteria. The prices were quite reasonable, I believe $7/lb for pork. Serve this with rice that is easy, fast and inexpensive, and you have yourself a meal. We ordered 1lb of pork and 1lb of duck. This meal fed four easily with leftovers. It probably cost us less than $20 total and filled us up quite nicely and tasted great. Not sure what more you could ask for! Plus there’s free parking outside and it was relatively close to where we lived so our food was still warm when we got home. We will certainly be back the next time we need cheap food fast."

"Pretty good Roast Pork"

November 2009 — "Good Chinese BBQ items are hard to find in Calgary and I find myself often disappointed. However, I’m constantly on the lookout of better and better BBQ and found myself coming close with BBQ Express. Its convienantly located on Centre St just before 16th Avenue N. There are a few spots for parking in front of the store, but would imagine it getting pretty busy during rush hour. I ordered a pound of roast pork and a pound of barbeque pork as take out. Prices were reasonable, coming in at about $7 per pound. I rushed home to eat it, while it was still fresh and found what I purchased to be quite decent. The skin was crispy on the roast pork and the meat itself was not dry. The BBQ pork was also more tender than I had expected. Overall, better than average. However in comparison to the quality of meats I’ve had in Toronto and Vancouver..etc, Calgary still has a long way to go. "

"Wonderful BBQ house"

September 2009 — "BBQ Express is a great little place I recently came across. It's located off of Centre Street next to the Pho Anh Huyen Vietnamese restaurant. The BBQ house is great for a multiple of reasons. I showed up around 5:30 in the evening in search of BBQ duck. They still had a couple that looked really good and I ordered half a duck to go. They gave me a big bag of duck sauce, which most places skimp out on. The old man and lady in the shop were extremely nice. The location is great because you don't have to go to Chinatown where it's impossible to find parking, which you have to pay for. I was especially impressed with this place because the duck was very good even though it was purchased in the evening. It was nice and crispy on the outside and not dry on the inside. The prices were on par with other BBQ shops as well. I highly recommend this place. Note that this place only accepts cash."

DescriptionBBQ Express is located in a small strip mall near Lambda on Centre Street, not too far from Chinatown on the north side of Centre Street Bridge. They specialize in Chinese barbecued meats, from Peking duck to barbecued pork. The meat is for take-out only.
