September 2009 — "If you are ever down in South East Calgary, it may be worth your while to make a visit to Peking Peking. Located in the Riverbend Shopping Centre near Glenmore and 18 street SE you will find a clean Chinese restaurant that specializes mainly on lunch and dinner buffets. We visited with a party of four and all were satisfied when we left. Unlike a lot of buffet type restaurants, we found that all of the food being served were freshly cooked. They have some of the best dumplings, deep fried shrimp, spring rolls and won ton soup that I’ve ever tasted. After a couple of plates I couldn’t eat any more, but managed to find some room to taste their various flavors of ice cream for dessert. If you are not in the mood for a buffet, be sure to check out their regular menu. I took a look and saw a good selection of Chinese food but didn’t get a chance to sample it myself. Service was attentive as I rarely found my water glass to be empty and price is very reasonable at $10.95 for the lunch buffet. If I didn’t live so far away, I would probably make this one of my usual spots to eat at. "

"Not the Best Chinese Buffet"

August 2009 — "In an effort to save some driving time, my boyfriend and I decided to pass up our usually Chinese buffet and try the local neighbourhood Peking Peking instead. I am sad to say it was a mistake I am not likely to make again. The restaurant looked decent enough, modestly decorated and appeared reasonably clean. The buffet was quite small but had a variety of the basics: Wonton Soup, spring rolls, dumplings, ginger beef, salt and pepper squid to name a few. Unfortunately, the serving dishes were all half empty and looked and tasted to be hours old. Their black pepper pork was quite good so my boyfriend requested a fresh serving and they were happy to accommodate which did score them some extra points. What really turned me off though was the bug I spotted crawling through the serving station. It was then that my dinner was over and for the price we paid I definitely wont be back.

January 2009 — "My friends and I are not normally in this neck of the woods but for some reason we found ourselves in Riverbend in South West Calgary. We were hungry and some one suggested a buffet for lunch, and that’s how we ended up here. I don’t normally like Chinese food buffets since it’s so far from authentic Chinese food. This place was surprisingly not bad. I really enjoyed their spring rolls and their dumplings as they were very large in size and did not skimp out, if that makes sense. At $10.95 for a lunch buffet, I was overall quite impressed. Other locations charge at least $15 for the same thing so I was pleased with the meal and the price. I don’t know the next time we’ll be in the neighborhood but whenever that happens, we’ll likely find time to swing by. Service was pretty good, as drinks were consistently refilled."
