August 2008 — "Smuggler' Inn Sylvan Lake I recently spent a few days camping around Sylvan Lake. We decided to go have a nice dinner out on the town. We went to Smuggler's Inn. The restaurant has a beautiful location right on the lakeside. There is both an upper and lower balcony/patio. The views from the patios are stunning! We chose to eat inside the restaurant as we wanted to get out of the heat, but ample windows still allowed us a view the lake. Smuggler's has an all you can eat salad bar. It contained different green salads, pasta salads, and various add-ons. There were also three choices of soup and rolls. The salad bar is just good, nothing spectacular, and be sure you don’t get too carried away as the meal portions are quite large. I ordered the prime rib, and the smallest size on the menu. As well, I added on a stuffed potato, as most sides are not included in the price. The potato was only $5 extra, but I probably could have done without considering I filled up on the salad bar. When my prime rib arrived I couldn’t believe how large it was! I asked the waitress if this was really the smallest size, and she assured me it was. The prime rib was delicious. The meat had good marbling, but was not too fatty. The flavour was delicious. I highly recommend Smugglers if you are in Sylvan Lake and want to go out for a nice dinner and skip the pub food that is so common in Sylvan. "
