July 2009 — "I stumbled across the Lighthouse Pub on 137 Avenue SE. It was a touch before noon, and there were only a handful of other patrons. The server was very friendly and hustled us up an inexpensive breakfast of eggs and toast. The meal was very good, but they did not have brown bread available. Looking around the room, I noted six VLTs, a big screen t.v., padded chairs, tables of dark wood, and quite detailed model boats. At times, the Lighthouse Pub has open stages or jams and I tried to imagine how different the place would be on a hopping Saturday night. For wine lovers, a glass of wine is only $4.25. You can't beat that! Domestic beer is about $4.00 as well. Looking out the window I noticed three or four Harley Davidson motorcycles and a group of guys standing near them enjoying their cigarettes. It made for a good people-watching experience. Why not check this place out? The price is right and it could turn into an interesting experience. "

While Calgary is not known for their lighthouses, this interestingly named pub serves as a beacon for their neighbours. Cheap drinks and standard pub fare is found here. Listen to the often featured live music, play some VLTs or watch the big screen TV.
