February 2012 — "Not fancy, just a lot of good food. It was pretty bad when we arrived (at 17:00) but quickly got better as more people arrived. Once the place was full, there was a constant stream of fresh food coming out of the kitchen. I ate vegetarian/fish options and I left satisfied. Everyone else in my party ate everything and really enjoyed it. It is not a fancy place, but it is easily understood why this is a benchmark for chinese buffet food in Calgary!"

August 2009 — "Home Food Inn on MacLeod trail is a great place for reasonably priced Chinese buffet. The restaurant itself doesn't have much ambiance. A small coy fish pond when you first walk in, but that's as far as the interior charm goes. Decoration may be sparse, but there is lots of seating and even on a busy Saturday, I had no problem getting a table. Home food has a good selection of soups, their sweet and sour was excellent, and a large selection of Chinese favorites. Their salt and pepper squid is quite possibly the best in the city. I was fortunate to visit on the weekend as on Friday and Saturday's is their Seafood night and half the buffet is seafood. They have every type of shrimp imaginable, an awesome curried squid, lobster balls, mussels, and if you're lucky you can even get your hands on crab claws, but these go quickly. I really can't count how many trips I made back to the buffet, but every time I returned to my table my discarded plates were cleared and my glass of water re-filled. I usually can't comment on the service at a buffet, but this time I can say that it was excellent. Almost as good as the food. If you love seafood, I would definitely recommend giving Home Food in a try on a Friday or Saturday night."
